Delicious meal. The filet mignon was so tender, I didn't even need a knife.
Nice atmosphere too.

Bee & Thistle Inn – Old Lyme, Connecticut
This is an old Inn with a restaurant in a wonderful rural setting.. Beautifully decorated and extremely appealing to the eye. I was seated in the rear dining room with a nice view of the fireplace. If you’re looking for a cozy, romantic place to dine, this would be that place…
First out… Bread with chive herbed butter… Two small slices, crispy and just the right amount to get a taste without filling up… Splendid! Generally speaking, if the bread is good, the cuisine that follows is as well.
My next course was the “Green Eggs & Ham”… Cilantro deviled eggs, jalapeño sauce, ornately decorated with a prosciutto cross on top. Very few restaurants serve deviled eggs, and I’ve had the good fortune to find just those special restaurants that do them well. These were delicious!
The main, seared sea scallops, sautéed baby kale, bacon stewed lentils and a citrus butter. Kale is an acquired taste that not everyone agrees with. What they do here with it is nothing short of magical. And as far as the lentils, how can you go wrong with anything that has bacon?! And although the chef recommends the scallops medium rare, I opted for medium and they were absolutely perfect!
The dessert offerings looked good, however in my line of work, dessert isn’t something you can have every night so I opted to finish the meal in my usual fashion with a cappuccino.
This has been a fabulous dining experience and one that I would highly recommend. Reasonably priced, artfully presented and delicious cuisine served by a friendly staff that clearly loves what they do and where they do it.

This is the only place in the area for true craft cocktails. Jack, the bartender, is an artist! Food is very high quality. Service is personal and friendly.

We have been going to the 'B&T' for some years now, and it is always our default 'go-to' restaurant. The service is friendly; after a time or two they will know you by name and treat you like family. They can host both large and small parties and have been very helpful in planning events. The bar and kitchen are top-notch, and for those visiting this area, they also have lodging. We feel B&T is a real asset to the community.
