I was at Brookshire for 2 weeks for rehab following a knee replacement. The staff was excellent ... caring, attentive and very professional. I highly rate their Physical Therapy team. Facility was very clean, the food was good. When checking out, the wheelchair that was to be delivered to the facility by others did not show up and Brookshire loaned me (no charge) one of theirs plus a walker. Their staff, furthermore, after I was home, assisted in getting a proper wheelchair and when accomplished, came to my home to pick up the loaners to save us a trip to Brookshire to return the equipment. I highly recommend Brookshire ... great people ... excellent facility and high level of care.

This nursing facility gives the facade of a nice, luxurious place but that ends at the offices where the sell their spin about what a wonderful, fun, interactive place it will be for you elderly loved one to move into and live out their golden years, if that’s was your family has decided. Snake oil, lies, and misrepresentation. My grandma broke her hip and went there for rehab. It was IN their facility, she slipped out of bed and irreparably became immobile, dispite other surgery, she’s forever crippled and can only move by wheelchair. All that saddens me but it’s HOW she’s treated now. They just let her lay in bed ALL day, no form of exercise, stimulation, she’s declined mentally and cognitively 300 percent in just a year. The food is less than platable or even nutritious!! Don’t elderly people need more vitamins and minerals and other nutrients than your average adult. But what put me over the edge, my daughter and I visited her for Christmas. Since she “can’t” get out of be, she’s in a diaper. She needed it changed and I told the nurse. With a much enthusiasm as a sloth “Oh we passing out dinner trays, we’ll get the soon .” I almost said some things quite inappropriate but I bit my tongue. So exactly how many times a DAY does my Nana, a striking, beautiful, loving woman her whole life is left to lay in her on excrement, is she ever bathed, not sponge bath but a real bath, have they ever gotten her out of bed, wheelchair ride??? Probably not so I’m going to take action. If the people who are PAID to do these things, aren’t. You don’t have to pay me to take proper care of my beloved grandmother. Brookshire needs state revaluation, social services as well ! Don’t put your family men ever here. The one star is I had to put one other wise ZERO stars!

When I first came to Brookshire, I felt at home here, but the longer I am here I have noticed that the staff doesn't listen to the patient very well. I have asked repeatedly that they not use the cheap disposable urostomies on me because they only last one day (if Im lucky, which most of the time I am not) which breaks the skin down. I have even brought my personal bags from home thinking that would help, but when I try to instruct the nurse on how to put it on so it wont lose its seal, they wont listen.
