My very elderly mother was at Hillcrest recently (3/18) for intensive rehabilitation after joint surgery. The administrative staff we dealt with were patient and helpful. The caregivers were consistently kind and attentive. The OT and PT professionals were completely focused on my mother's recovery. The food, according to Mom, was great, once she had a chance to speak to the nutritionist. And the facility is clean and pleasant. There's nothing about Hillcrest that says "nursing home" and none of the nightmare visions of wholly incapacitated elderly parked in the hallways and practically falling out of their wheelchairs. Compared with every other facility we researched in the area, Hillcrest emerged as the clear first choice. We feel we were lucky to have been able to send my mother there for rehab and highly recommend it for those purposes. I'm rating them 5 stars because I can't think of anything more they could have done to help us.

Wife here for two weeks in Feb following knee replacement surgery. She has dementia so required my presence during her stay. Admission was ok (Had to wait for a room for an hour or so). The nursing care was excellent. They were responsive to pain med requests and were efficient and timely with their required checks. Nursing assistants varied in skill and interest.....from super attentive to just doing the minimum. Thankfully, the former outnumbered the latter. Her PT and OT folks were all outstanding. VERY encouraging and professional. The rehab "gym" is too small and sometimes so crowded as to be a hazard. Luckily, most of my wife's rehab was done in the room or in the hallways. Speaking of the room, it was excellent....nice facilities with one exception and that is the tv. It is small and old and about 1/3 of the channels on the channel listing were not available. FOOD: Superb menus and plenty of alternatives available. Only complaint is I usually had to go to the nurses station to warm up our meals. Quality and quantity and variety were good. She left there after two weeks in really good shape to continue with outpatient rehab.

Pleasant atmosphere and decor. Nursing staff consistently pleasant and attentive. Good nutritious meals were a relief compared to meals during recent hospitalization at Duke Medical center. Pleasant dining room option for ambulatory patients and guests.

I was at Hillcrest for continued nursing and rehabilitation following a major back surgery. My experience there was wonderful. Very caring staff and wonderful rehabilitation experience. Would definitely recommend your facility to anyone. Very beautiful environment!

While working here as a nurse, I was lied to REPEATEDLY. The deal breaker was when I was bit by a vicious dog in a patient's room while caring for a patient and when it was all said and done, the CEO, Ted Smith, threatened to call the police on me for trespassing (AFTER poorly handling the situation and me quitting as a result) after asking to see documentation about my worker's compensation claim. He threatened me because I was "verbally aggressive" over the phone, but we were on the phone discussing the situation for 45 minutes. I don't know anyone who would stay on the phone with someone who was verbally agressive for 45 minutes. Then tried to say "Well the patients are frail and brittle etc." I was sincerely offended. Before I'm an employee, I'm a NURSE and a decent human being at that. I WOULD NEVER even bring myself to disrespect and much less lay a finger on a patient. But anyway, what a surprise, they DID NOT pay for the workers compensation care that I received after the attack. I would NEVER trust a patient there, because if management can't even properly care for their staff, God forbid if a dog bit a sickly resident! DO NOT risk it with your family members. Would never recommend.
