Highly unprofessional staff, rude and disrespectful. I have shared the awful experience with family, friends and co-workers insuring that they never use Budget rent a car. When I asked the staff member on duty for her name, she refused to give it to me, so that I could lodge a proper complaint for her utterly poor people skills, bad attitude and misinformation. Fortunately, there are a host of rental companies that actually care about customer service, so myself and all of my friends, family, and co-workers will use those companies. I don't understand how no manager can be available and an employee can speak to customer any way she chooses. That employee is running this business into the ground.

The staff were professional and courteous, but the blame lies on who ever does scheduling for this location. Its Friday evening AKA the most popular time to rent a car in NYC, and there is one person at the counter.
It took me over an hour to get to the counter and even longer to get to my car.
Just a friendly warning for people thinking about choosing this location

Rented a car from Budget Car Rental in Manhattan-Eastside, Red Ball Garage for 2 nights. Having rented in multiple countries including US before this was one of the worst experiences:
-Small room where to pick up keys for the car so the customers had to make a line outside, the queue was extremely slow and the pick up took c. 1.5 hours (this being after work on a Friday!)
-Despite the extremely long queue there was zero effort done by the staff to communicate to customers or explain the reason for the huge delay
-The reason for the delay wasn’t clear, the pick up desk seemed to blame the fact that there was only one employee running across multiple floors of the garage to communicate number plates of cars available. In reality it felt like a mismanaged car rental garage, dated computer system and some level of employee incompetence
-Even after picking up keys took ages to get the car - had to wait for a member of staff to drive it out for us (another c. 15 mins)
-Having paid for a Ford Escape, we got a Toyota 4Runner. Didn’t feel like an equivalent car at all, was old, large mileage and much bigger size

Fast and friendly service. Car which I have reserved was available (Dodge Charger). Long opening times (11.00 pm).

This is likely to be one of the most horrible places I have ever dealt with. Unreliable service, quality and overall experience. Specifics:
1. They routinely overbook so you getting a reservation means very little. Can show up and basically find out that there are "no cars". This means that you really can't count on this service if you have something important to drive to.
2. You could get a car with a bump that they poorly document (their documentation system is from the 19th century). Upon return, they will claim that it's a new bump, which all sounds pretty convenient for them. I don't exactly know how the customer can avoid this, but regardless, doesn't seem like something a customer should worry about
3. While they have staff that is very competent at times (hence, the one star). They have others who really shouldn't be interacting with other human beings.
