Carriage House Restaurant

We went for a light snack. They were serving lunch in the Queen's room because of a rotary meeting in the main restaurant. The menu looked nice but we just ordered an appetizer of pimento cheese, fried tomatoes and French bread. When it came out there were crackers. When questioned, the waitress said abruptly that they were out of bread. It would have been nice to know that when we ordered!! Not impressed at all. The waitress was very interested in serving us and actually acted a little put out that we were there! Would not recommend.

Awful experience. Like seriously so disappointing. I visited this place as a kid and felt like a queen, but just recently went back and everything was bad except for the food. That is why I'm giving it 2 stars otherwise I'd give it a 0 if possible. The staff was rude, the manager was very condescending to the wait staff. I dislike this place because it almost makes you feel like you are back in slave times as all of your servers are African Americans. I believe they don't hire anyone else. Ridiculous. The poor waitress got our ticket all mixed up, charged for extra things or not enough. It ended up taking us 45 extra minutes to sort through the ticket issue and no one seemed to care that much about it. Will not ever go back.

On a Saturday there was no wait. Fried chicken was spectacular. Tender, seasoned, crispy, but not greasy. The Bingo burger was quite good as well. Service was quick and friendly.

Wednesday not the day for lunch. Tour group and Rotary Club took dining rooms, we sat outside, few table bad service Chicken like Diner Food. Tasty but expensive

While the food IS very good, I’m with one reviewer who noted the frenzied Sunday brunch atmosphere. I really was never sure who my waiter was and had to go to the bar to ask for a cola. I also had to ask a random person by the buffet for biscuits that I’m pretty sure your waiter is supposed to immediately bring to you. I felt like I was bothering them just asking for basics even though they always had a smile. The lady working the bar was very helpful, but I don’t feel it was her job to be my waiter...I don’t know. It just felt a little odd. It is tons of food for the price...I’m tiny though, so it really wasn’t quite worth it for me. Good variety though.
