Rina was an EXPERT tour guide. She was super funny and informative and made the whole experience worth while. The house and property were very interesting and it was a good look back on Cherokee history as well as slave history. The 15 minute video was informative and the perfect length to give us plenty of information.

The tour of the house was fantastic! The history of the Vann family was interesting. You could tour the ENTIRE house - from root cellar to the third floor!!! Today so many historic sites limit access. You can watch an informative video. There is a room in the interpretive center that is full of history about the Vann family, the Trail of Tears and Tahlequah, OK - now the capital of the Cherokee Nation.

This is a really well preserved example of a Cherokee home, although Chief Vann was one of the richest men in America. But the vast fortune he left to his son, Joe, wasn't enough to protect him from having his house and his land violently taken from him.
