I volunteer here. And in my personal opinion there's an unwelcoming vibe. Most of the staff never talk and those same people act like they can't stand being there, or that they're bothered if you ask them a question. The same with the interior of the shelter.... It's unwelcoming to me.... Now the cats and dogs are a whole different story! There are some great "furever" pets here. They all just want lots of love, a family,  and food 😁.

The Colonial Heights Animal shelter staff was kind and courteous they worked quickly and efficiently to give the dog shots to as many dogs as possible.

Love the staff, they truly care. Adopted a new family member. Adoption process was quick and easy. I would definitely recommend this no kill shelter. :)

Tried to adopt a loving dog from them but was given the run around and ignored by the older woman everyone we went in there. Guess a biracial lesbian couple aren't good enough to rescue an animal. Worst experience ever!
