We loved this place! History of the Coast Guard, WWII, fishing, and boating in the region. So many great artifacts! Give yourself any least 2-3 hours to through the whole museum. Your ticket is good all that day. You can also tour the Columbia ship that is docked behind the museum (with your admission ticket). Go there...you'll love it!

A great maritime museum, perfect for any fan of history, the sea or maritime traditions. A must see if you’re visiting Astoria. I really enjoyed the exhibits, they were very well done, informative and very beautiful. Each room had a different focus, I only wish the museum had more of a narrative thread. Each room was interesting, but they seemed a bit disjointed. You’d go from learning about the USS Astoria in the battle of Guadalcanal to then learning about river pilots, I wish there was more connection between the exhibits. Even so, it is a great way to spend an afternoon.

I'm not much of a museum goer, but this visit made for a fascinating morning. The displays are compelling, well presented, and present a sobering view of life on the Columbia River. Well worth a visit, but don't short change the time -- plan on at least a couple of hours. It's time well spent!

Nice museum. We spent about 2 1/2 hrs looking at everything. They offer video documentaries in a small theater setting for an extra $5. The admission was 14 for adults and 12 for seniors. I don't recall the child price. There are small gift shops with assorted items for purchase. All in all a nice visit.

This comprehensive description of the Astoria waterfront history should not be missed. It is amazing to see the activity as well as danger that happens at the Clatsop Spit. The Coast Guard risking their lives is a riveting story. And the history of the waterfront and canneries really gives you a glimpse into history. This museum's gift shop is my favorite in Astoria. Lastly, do not miss walking through the light ship!
