Love this place. The mansion was impressive. Interesting to see the modern conveniences that this place had at the time it was built. Loved the grand staircase. The view of the city is magnificent. We saw people just checking out the grounds and not bothering to pay to see the mansion. The ground keeper 's residence had narrow stairs so we were glad to have visited this place during slow season. Even if one doesn't go inside the mansion and the grounds keepers residence this place is worth checking out .

I love this place. I did my wedding photos here 15 years ago. The grounds are beautiful for a picnic with the family and beautiful views. We toured the inside today. I’m so glad this was sold to the city/parks of Portland for all of us to enjoy and not some developer . It’s a piece of Portland history , so going is really supporting and preserving a bit of that. And there’s photo ops on every corner .

The house and grounds are lovely, and offer one of the best views of the city. There are also wonderful trails all through Forest Park that crisscross through and around the property. I am grateful that this historic home has been restored and maintained. However, the museum is thoroughly underwhelming. Almost none of the furnishings are original, and on my last visit, the volunteer docents were kind, but not super knowledgeable.

Easy to find with signs guiding you to the top whether you hike or drive it. I especially like the fun/random facts along the side driving to the top. Nice sized parking lot with an additional lot for busier times. I unfortunately did not go into the house, you have to pay a fee to get in the house but you can still walk around the property and check out the amazing view of the city. Definitely a must if visiting Portland!

Gorgeous views of Portland. The tour was exquisitely interesting, you learn a lot about the family that lived there and the lifestyle they had as a wealthy family in the founding days of the city. The prestige of that time is unprecedented. The decor, the architecture and grandeur is seemingly quite rare at this type of scale, I loved it. The grounds are also neatly kept with flowers and greenery with a bench overlooking the skyline. On a sunny day the valley extends out to hills and the famous Mt. Hood. I recommend to go in Spring or Fall when you get colors abound wether be autumn leaves or delicate flowers, it’s definitely eye candy. The picture I attached was in Summer, and the sky had trace amounts of haze and clouds, however the sight was extremely beautiful anyway. Take the road up here and you’ll never be disappointed.
