Consulate General of Greece

Although we were not able to complete the registration of our marriage after travelling from Montreal, the reception at the Consulate General of Greece was extremely welcoming. From the receptionist to the registration department, everyone was most helpful and made us feel welcome and not rushed. The consulate web site provides a great deal of information and the online appointment system works flawlessly. I should have sent copies of all documents before visiting the consulate. In any case we spent a couple of pleasant days in NYC in great weather. Σε ευχαριστώ πολύ.

The change in the Consulate is very noticeable. I remember going as a young adult with fear that I would be snapped at by someone and treated like an idiot. No more. It's warm smiles from the get go, people are ready to handle each person individually. This is our famous Greek hospitality. I am so happy to see the consulate improve so much. I am also excited that they are starting to publicize more Greek cultural events in and around NYC.

I visited the consulate to apply for citizenship. Staff was exceptionally helpful and courteous, even though I had not made an appointment with the correct department they directed me appropriately and handled my case on the spot. They work with me to complete the paperwork and assisted me in ensuring I submitted all the necessary documents. I believe the assistant who I worked with was Ms Manoloudakis; she was amazingly friendly and helpful. The only negative was all the forms I needed to fill out but it might be just as hard to do it for any other country. An area for improvement would be to make it clear Which documents need to be brought in for citizenship. Like I mentioned I didn't have all the documents and I had to contact my family to send them via email real time. I understand that not every individual case requires the same document so it would be helpful if there was a flow chart that indicated for your each personal situation what documents need to be brought in.

Both times I visited the Consulate General of Greece, the stuff was courteous and professional. Setting the appointment online was easy and on site they processed my paperwork in a timely manner. The only issue is there are no credit/debit cards accepted. Cash only...

This is the quickest I have ever got a visa!!! The employees were very friendly and helpful, and did everything possible to make sure I got a visa on time. They treat you like a friend and make you feel at home there. I really recommend this embassy! -Faina
