I have gone there many times, mainly to get power of attorney. It takes time if there are many people but the staff is always efficient and helpful. I have seen people talking rudely to the staff and then obviously they don't get any courteous responses. Make sure you have all copies needed - passport 1st and last, visa, driving license and copies of documents that need attestation and you should be fine. And they take only cash and it's mostly better if you carry exact change for the $2/$3 extra processing fees that they charge apart from the $20 attestation charge. They can run late sometimes for passport collection. But overall experience is always fine if you have everything they require.

I have gone there twice for emergency visas. Both of my experiences were great. The staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. I had all the necessary paper work dully notarized and exact cash for the fee. It took under 1 hour for me to walk out with visa stamp on the passport, both times. Considering that I just walked in without any appointments, I'd say they were extremely efficient. I was pleasantly surprised to see a staff member helping an elderly woman, even to fill out an online visa form on one of the computers, all while juggling between other duties.

The staff is friendly but it took us 3 hrs to submit and receive the approved documents. Make sure you account for total waiting time of 2- 3.5 hrs, have all the required documents and 23 - 24 dollars change. We reached around 11:30 and they stopped issuing tokens after 12..the room is small and stinks..they should get a bigger room and more people on the window.. for majority of the time there is only one staff working.. somebody should look at the entire process and try to make it more efficient.

Read a little on embassy’s website before your visit about exact requirements for service you are interested and have all documents ready with copies to make your experience smooth and painless.

I am very amazed and pleased at the kind of help and support these guys extended. We had personal emergency travel planned to India all the tickets booked ,couple of weeks before the travel only i realized that my kids passport is expiring and needs to be renewed, without which i had to cancel my trip. I wrote to Embassy explaining my situation. To my surprise i got a call from Khusbu from Indian Embassy , she offered all kind of support and ensured that my kids passport is approved at the earliest. Thank you very much Khusbu and Indian Embassy for all your support, overwhelmed by your gesture.
