I was concerned after reading the reviews but to my surprise, my experience was pleasant. The staff lady who helped me with my visa was very lovely and helpful. I arrived around 11:26 and only had to wait around 15 minutes.

As everyone else said, quite terrible customer service. You call the consulate just to be redirected to the website. However, the website has conflicting instructions on how to acquire the passport. If you're renewing, you can do it online. If it's the first time, and/or for a child, you need a special form. It ALSO says that, if you live outside of Ireland, you must fill out that special form regardless. Which you can only get by stopping by or calling. But, when you call, they tell you to do it online. I finally left a voicemail with someone who called back, but they were EXTREMELY RUDE. They kept interrupting me to tell me to do everything online and not listening to what I was saying. I was calling on someone's behalf and they kept asking me about my status, even though I specifically said it's not for me. She kept pushing me to do it online, even though I said the website said I couldn't. Finally, I got her to send me one of the special forms but I'm fairly certain I'll have to stop by in person to get the rest because she didn't bother listening thoroughly and the call ended abruptly. Also, the office is apparently only open from 10 to 2? And not on Wednesdays? What kind of hours are those? If no one answers the phones or works normal hours, what do they even do there?

The worst f**king embassy I have never encountered before. The people who works at the embassy are fine just the system is just a mess. You will never hear anything from them about your visa application status unless you call, when you call them, they charge you without picking up. The number embassy gives does not work either. Absolutely the worst system, have applied visa at so many other embassy, none of them were like this.

A few tips before you go: no need to go early than 10- they front desk won’t let you upstairs until after that time, make sure you read everything carefully ( what you need to bring for passports) - it is a lot. I was in and out within 40 minutes. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would happily go here any day rather than ever going to the NY DMV!!!
