When we moved into our first house over a decade ago, I chose this company over another (there were only 2 to choose from) because the other had a very badly put together website. I wish I hadn't!
Over the years, this company didn't pick up our trash (on normal business days, NOT holidays) several times. This always happened in the summer, after they had picked everyone else's trash... and left ours!
When telling them about this, they act like it is our fault, as if we just forgot and want them to come all the way back. No, we did not forget. I am a stay at home artist, and I watched the truck as it passed our cans but took the others.
The company also has the worst timing. We don't put our cans out overnight because of wild animals that may knock them about. So my husband drags them out before work, around 6... and sometimes that's too late. So he had to start getting up at 5 to do this. The best part? The times vary so much that sometimes it's as late as 7 or 8 pm when they arrive.
When we wanted to cancel, my husband tried to email them but this wasn't allowed, as they want to try and win you back. The account was under my name, so I was forced to call. I have bad social anxiety - especially about phone calls -- and this was very distressing to me. All because they wanted to try to keep our business. (The phone rep was very polite, by the way, I understood they probably had a script and/or guidelines and had to follow these so I don't blame her). However, they didn't take "we want to cancel" as an answer and tried to ask why we wanted to, following with "I don't see that you called about these issues..." (I very politely informed her I used the email service for those, as I had anxiety, wanting to add I should have been able to for this as well).
I was told - get this! -- our $100+ bill could be cut to $20+ per month. (KC Disposal, who we have now, is $16). We were paying $35+ per month, for a total of $100+ when the bill would come!
This made me angrier. When I told them the KC Disposal price, the response was amazingly arrogant:
"Well, just remember, that is a new company. After the 2 YEAR contract is up, their prices will go up too."
My reply? "Yes, WM/Deffenbaugh was cheaper at first, too. We didn't start out paying $100." We paid $30+ originally, but it's been steadily creeping and our bill can't get higher than $100+ for a bad garbage service, that's ridiculous!
I was not informed that there would be a charge ($90+) to pick up their cans, but a neighbor of ours was. I wonder how most people would take that surprise fee... I know it's coming, but I was not told.
Service wise, today was our first KC Disposal pickup. They were here before I awoke, both cans were empty! I was shocked. WM/Deffenbaugh takes one can, then you wait hours for the other truck to come.
Bad customer service in the form of what they tell their people to say/how to treat you, bad service in general, non pickups... just stay away from here.

If I could give Zero stars I would. They were the worst trash service that I have ever had!!!! The trash can must be facing the correct way and all your trash has to fit nicely in the can or they will not pick up the trash. Then once I cancelled services they continued to take monthly charges out of my account. I called to have it fixed and they said the representative forgot to cancel my auto pay and they would correct it. I understood this small error and expected it to be corrected and no problems. After a few weeks noticed that no credit was placed on my account so I called back. It took 4 representatives to get the mistake corrected and they all blamed the previous rep for not putting the request in correctly. They are very frustrating to deal with and they do not hold their reps accountable to provide correct information. I WOULD NEVER start service with this company again and I now know why they have a 1.8 star rating!!!! Look for other service and save yourself a headache!!!!!!!

Service has been spotty in the past, but overall acceptable in that whenever they missed our bins we would call or email the office and they would eventually come by within the next day or two. That happened rarely enough that we were just putting up with it. But in the past 2 or 3 months they have not taken our yard waste, our recyclables, or our trash so often that it is getting ridiculous. Today they missed picking up all 3 of our services - and we have been steady customers for several years. When I called 2 weeks ago I told them I would not renew my service if things continued this way. The representative told me she would work with her team to figure out the situation, and she promised to follow up with me early the next week but I haven’t received any follow-up communication. They are leaving me no choice but to look for another provider, hopefully one that will actually provide the services I pay for.

Most horrible service ever. Don't know what day they will actually come. Waste left for days or weeks. Can't give a low enough rating. Drivers lie and say pick up complete as the waste piles up. Customer service tells you anything to get you off phone - supervisor never return calls. Pay for weekly service - might get bi-weekly....

I live in west Shawnee - and most of the houses in my area use Deffenbaugh/Waste Management. I was/am a customer with Republic (used to be Superior) So I was shopping around for a different service, and thought I'd call them up to get a quote. And since everyone else seems to be using them, why not, right?
I called and spoke to a gentleman who told me $32, billed quarterly. I have some coworkers who use a service in another area (Louisburg), also owned by WM, who said they pay 30-some dollars quarterly. So this $32 quote seemed believable! Well, I went ahead and cancelled my current service with Republic. Went to start up with WM and was told $30 a MONTH. Horrible miscommunication is all I'm going to chalk it up to. I even tried to start up service on their website - $110 quarterly after the environmental BS fees! ARE YOU GUYS ALL REALLY PAYING THIS MUCH!?!?!
Embarrassed, I called back Republic to inform them I'd like to CANCEL my CANCELLATION and stay a customer with them for my on-going $75 quarterly. Its unreal how many people just accept a price and don't think twice about it. You have choices, people! Be savvy!!! I would NEVER pay that much for trash pickup, even if you prepay for a year, that's $400! This WM company comes off as a very crooked operation, and based off the other reviews, why would you pay that much for... GARBAGE? I'm not here to advocate any waste company. They're all crooks imo. I'm just saying, you have options, SHOP AROUND!!!
