Waste Management - Johnson County Landfill

I didn't look at the receipt until after disposing a 4’ x 5’6” x 12” pickup truck bed of pine boards, light metal shelves, and a steel jack post. I thought the lady at the landfill scale house said $9.95 when she told me the cost. Apparently she said $85.00! There is no way I would have ever paid $89.04 (with tax and water fee?) to dump that small amount of stuff had I known that was the cost. My pickup bed isn’t even a full size bed with it being a Ram 1500 with the side RamBox boxes taking up part of a normal truck bed space. I had so little stuff I even had my bed cover closed, with several inches to spare! I would have promptly made a U-turn and exited the landfill had I had understood the price was $85.00! I could have disposed of the boards and shelves in my home trash dumpster over the next 3 weeks. I chose to take the stuff to the landfill to get it out of my way at the house. It wasn’t $89.04 in my way! This will be my first and last time I take anything to the landfill. There needs to be pricing posted online and the signage at the entrance of the landfill needs to have larger print to be able to read it while driving to prevent misunderstandings like I had. There really is no reason not to have pricing on their website – the cost of the website is the same with or without the pricing posted. I'm absolutely shocked that it cost $89.04 for the small amount of stuff I had. The pricing structure should not be based on the type of vehicle being driven, but rather the volume or weight of the items to be dumped. If the only vehicle you own is a pickup truck, you are going to be charged $89.04 no matter how much you need to dump. I now understand why so many people choose to dump on the roadside. I certainly will never dump again in the landfill.

I have been a loyal customer for 5 years. I have had the same trash and recyle bins and I called and talked to Ed yesterday and asked to get my bins traded out because they are dirty and smell bad. He said no problem. Today a lady came by and looked but didn't trade them out. When I called I was told since the wheels weren't broken from overloading or the handle wasn't broken they wouldn't trade them out. Moral of the story "if you don't tear things up you don't get replacement". I have two other companies that come to our neighborhood and tomorrow I am calling them. I'll get new bins from them!

I would rate this a zero if possible. The "customer convience center" is not convient at all. Hours have changed for the free yard waste removal and those hours aren't hours people that work can make. I pay some pretty good money for service only to have them try and charge me to haul it to you. Weekend is only open til noon.. Need better hours or charge me less when you take away services I used to have.

Lazy SOB's, they are the reason I moved out of wyco,. They never pick up the trash you are required to pay for through BPU for service. And leave the nice neighborhoods looking trashier than the not so clean side of town

The website shows it is open daily including Saturday until 5. Arrived on a Saturday at 415, only to be told that although they were sitting in there... they were not open to residential drop off.
