*Don't believe all the good reviews for this place, they are reviews for when it was Eye Central, not MyEyeDr.* I have been a customer and patient for over three years of Eye Central and Dr. Martin. They were both great, and Dr. Martin had been keeping an eye no pun intended on a mildly complicated issue I had in my left retina. She had taken specific extra scans and sent me to a retina specialist for a workup and had been dealing with my issue for years. I felt comfortable knowing she knew how to handle it during my annual eye exams. I had ordered contacts and they were reasonably priced. And then MyEyeDr. bought them out.. their website still lists Dr. Martin but says to call to schedule. I call, and the receptionist is new and doesn't even think Dr. Martin is employed by them. He said she's not on the schedule for the next three months, and he's never heard of her. He recommends I make an appointment with a new doctor. I said okay fine, but they'll have my record of all of my past appointments, Dr. Martin's notes, and the additional scans I had done, right? He has to put me on hold and ask someone else, and comes back and explains that all of my records are now gone. Just vanished. How can that possibly be? I'm livid. I guess I shouldn't have expected much from some large conglomerate that only cares about the bottom line and not their patients, but that large of an EMR issue almost seems grounds for medical malpractice. In short, avoid them at all costs.
Do not waste your time by visiting this business. Visited December 30 for an eye exam. The doctor told me I needed new lenses. I came out of the exam room and sat down and they took my insurance info and told me the lenses will be ready by the end of January. I call to follow up at the end of January and they told me there is no order for lenses. My eyes will be hurting for another month until I get the new lenses and obviously I don't want to wait another month to find out that they threw my order away after they took it, so I am going somewhere else.
Mike Bushee, the general manager at this location, is one of the most competent and professional people I've ever met. I came in with a lot of frustrations about a frame fitting gone wrong, and he put me at ease almost immediately and provided me with the guidance I needed to be re-fitted into something much more appropriate for my face structure and level of nearsightedness. The location itself is well situated, near public transit, and it was clean and well stocked. Thank you Mike!
Do not select this EyeDr location. I ordered a pair of lenses not even the frames in early November during a routine visit. After multiple phone calls, and two pop in visits…Thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE… I finally received a call that the lenses were ready for pick up in January. I went months without glasses to accommodate this wait, which is a big inconvenience for someone with really bad vision. Note that I still continue to get voicemails and texts that glasses are ready after I picked them up. When discussing the challenge with the manager, she offered me a very small discount on my next pair of lenses. When I checked the records of my account, the discount hadn’t even been noted. I’d give the place 1 star but the doctor and assistant who completed my exam were quite good. I think the backend administration is a cluster and glasses are last on the list of Dr visits anyone needs to be complicated.
Referred by a friend, I went for eye exam and they treated me like a family member especially Ranceenia, who assured me that she would take care of me and find me the right pair of glasses at the right price . She did exactly what she said!!!!Cudoos to Ranceenia!!!
I have been a patient here for a number of years and was just back for my yearly exam. I really appreciate the care the team takes in providing a thorough eye exam and taking into consideration family history, past exams, and my current needs. Dr. Foley is really good at explaining the conditions of the eye, possible treatment approaches, and potential complications. I really value his expertise and experience. They also have a pretty good selection of frames in the shop and provided helpful advice in choosing one to fit my face.
Be careful, they took $75 from me. It took me a several hours going back and forth with my insurance and Eye Central to sort it out. Long story short, due to their negligence I was charged $75 for my routine eye exam appointment even though I have insurance and the appointment was supposed to be completely covered. Short story long, I've been here for the previous 2+ year with the same insurance and up until this point things were normal. I'm frustrated because when I went in person to talk to their manager Dana she did not apologize for their $75 mistake. Instead, she said it would take at least a week to sort out my reimbursement and then made me sign a form before I could receive my reimbursement. After explaining that it took me several hours to sort things out Dana said she couldn't offer any sort of discount, partial refund, special offer, or any other sort of compensation for the time I spent sorting out their mess. Overall, the doctors and other employees there get at least a 4 or 5 star rating from me. I haven't had any issues with them and they've been quite nice and accommodating. But management and Dana specifically get 2 stars for their terrible customer service policies and doing the bare minimum again, I wasted several hours of my time and it will take at least a week for me to receive my reimbursement. Dana's customer service was extremely poor and I do not plan on giving Eye Central any more of my money. Be careful when you go that they aren't charging you for things that are covered by your insurance.
I had a great experience here, having to get an eye exam and glasses after failing my eye exam at the DMV. Dr. Martin was thorough and professional, helping me navigate needing glasses for the first time. Tan was also great and very patient in advising which glasses were best. Would definitely recommend.
I've been a customer for 5+ years. Dr. Reed is a mainstay and well respected in field. This past weekend I witnessed and experienced exceptional customer service: Dr. Frarier - Undoubtedly knows what she does and does it effortlessly and well. Dana - Store mgr. - Displayed and is the epitome of business and phenomenal customer service. Tania- Optical specialist - unbelievably professional, kind and a craftsman at his specialty. Thank you Eye Central DC - KUDOS!
Updated review as of 1/15/22: The office manager, Dana, called me after I shared my review below to apologize and explain the technical issues that led to the challenges I was experiencing making an appointment. She then proceeded to offer me an appointment for this weekend and gave me a discount on my exam. The service I received this morning from Dana and Dr. Fraire was prompt, efficient and informative. I appreciate them going above and beyond to make things right and will continue to get my eye services here! Thank you! Original review: Just a heads up - this place might be closed. I’m a returning patient and have been trying to make an appointment for a week now. No response to email, and the phone number is out of service. Would be nice if they at least updated their website so I know why I’m not getting any response…
