My wife and I were here in 1970 when I was in the Army, stationed at White Sands Missile Range and living in Las Cruces. Even though my wife Sharon was pregnant at the time we were explorers and Fort Selden was one of the first places we visited. Loved the fort and loved the desert.

A 'Hidden Gem', with an interesting history. Very knowledgeable staff as well! Be sure to visit the Fort Selden Winery across the road after your tour of the fort.

Great little Monument. Could use more, though. Nothing about Buffalo Soldiers, and hardly anything about McArthur.
