Stumbled across this place while taking a drive in the Pine Barrens. Fantastic bird watching/photography. Bring some good footwear because a few of the trail connections are washed out.

I often go here for Meteor showers in the middle of the night (2 - 5am). As far as I could find it is the darkest spot in southern NJ with a wide open treeless sky. I walk to the center for the best view. You can see the band of the Milky Way and more stars than you could imagine. I prefer to go in late fall, winter and early spring to view since the mosquitoes can get bad in the warmer months. Bring a flashlight, some friends and some blankets to enjoy the show.
