A very clean and well maintained hostel that really enjoyed staying there for a couple of nights. The price is not that cheap considering you'll be staying with 3-5 other persons in a dorm, but considering the competition it's totally worth it.
There's a full kitchen with all necessary cutlery for you to cook a gourmet meal if you feel inspired or want to save money. Kroger's grocery store is a few minutes away. I did make a wonderful omelette myself!
Everything is provided for your stay, all is asked is to collect your bed sheets and covers and drop them off at the washer room bin on your way out.
You can hang out downstairs with other guests and watch TV on big projector screen or pick the brains of the local staff who are just wonderful people with tons of local knowledge and beyond.
Josh was quite a informed history and travel lover and I had the pleasure of chatting with him one evening.
I highly recommend this place. It inspires you to travel and explore and it really gave my trip a moral boost it needed! :)

Large clean common room and kitchen. Comfortable bed and linens. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance. And fantastic price. I definitely recommend HI Richmond, particularly if you're traveling alone.

I was very skeptical at first. But I'm glad I decided to go against my fears, the experience was a good one. I was very impressed with everything included in the facility for the price I paid. They have a little of everything for everyone. Coloring sheets for the young and old lol :), board games, plenty of books, free maps of Richmond, plenty of sitting room, a pool table, a patio and a huge kitchen to cook in if you like. Most of all I loved their mission statement. It's a pretty dope place to stay for a few days.

My first experience with a Hostel was great! I wish I had stayed in more Hostels in my travels. I stayed here while looking for apartments, the staff were very helpful in figuring out my options and the other guests were all very friendly. The beds are plenty comfortable, but if you're staying in a dorm style bunk make sure to grab some complimentary earplugs.
