Highlands Behavioral Health

This place needs a 0. They are listening to a 13 year old, who doesnt like having rules. They won't discharge our son, they told us they will have us escorted off the property if we try to take him home. They are after money. We have had our child check out many times by other doctors there is nothing wrong with him. He ran away after being told he wont be going on vacation. When he was found he told the cops he was gonna hurt himself. He was placed at this facility. Now they are refusing to release him, they say we need to figure out why he is seeking attention. Guess what some parents are actually paying attention. He wants attention because he is no longer the only child and getting everything he want.

There is a reason this place has a 2.5 rating. The staff is relatively friendly and the food is actually better than I expected, but that is where my compliments run dry. First, the social worker assigned to me started to make medical suggestions to me about a subject that I am highly educated about. I felt like I was being treated like a child. Second, they have created a system that is so bogged down in paperwork that it is completely inefficient. If you need something signed or review etc, don't even bother. Now that I think of it, I don't think they even had computers available to the staff. Third, one of the "doctors" was from Nigeria and had 0 American medical credentials. And finally, upon discharge my phone could not be located. My social worker came outside and was told about the issue. He went inside and came back out very shortly telling my father and I that he reviewed the camera footage from when I arrived and I did not have a phone with me. I went and used a computer to locate my phone's last whereabouts and it showed that it was still at the hospital. At this juncture the social worker who "reviewed" the tapes was gone and was ignoring our phone calls. Luckily enough someone from Risk Management put together a team who found my missing phone. This Rick Management person also told me that the social worker didn't have access to the security cameras. So in short, the social worker assigned to me lied to my face and my father's face, for what reason? I have no idea. If you need help go ANYWHERE else.

I was very depressed and suicidal upon being admitted here. I had to stay over a month in intensive recovery. I participated in daily group therapy, that included music, yoga and class time. My social worker, Pete and an RN, Rana helped me though this difficult time. Thanks, Pete, Rana, Nastasia, Mike and everyone else that helped me when I needed it most. I have begun a new life as a prominent business GM in Highlands Ranch. PLEASE IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS.

I was afforded problem solving skills, trauma therapy, and all groups helped focus on coping skills and the staff was always friendly and helpful

This place is definitely about the money I have my grandson there and I needed to take him home and they placed another emergency hold on him they gave him medication without permission they never diagnosed him with anything they told me Medicaid would pay for this and if Medicaid didn’t pay then and only then would he be released I believe this is a Medicaid fraud facility they did nothing but make my grandson worse hold him against his will and my will Thid place should definitely be investigated prior reviews are 73% negative why is this place in business what a Shame I am currently going to sue this facility and I encourage everyone to do the same shut this place down again I repeat shut this place down they lie they pass you off they ignore you and continually make things up as long as they’re getting paid I was also informed They pay staff members to write positive reviews
