This place was fantastic. I wish we also had time to come here for brunch, but we only made it here for dinner while in town. We arrived at 5:30 on a Wednesday evening, I'd recommend coming a bit earlier since you can't make reservations (except for larger parties). It was super empty when we arrived and we were seated immediately. We were seated in the corner booth table (who doesn't love booths?).
I think they use the menus as placemats, because they never took them from us after we ordered. My sister ordered the matzo ball soup and the curry bowl, I opted for the schnitzel. I absolutely love schnitzel and this did not disappoint -- the chicken was juicy and tender with a wonderfully crisp and breaded outside (side note - why is it so hard to find schnitzel, anywhere?) I've never had matzo ball soup here but it was wonderful (especially on a cold day). My sister loved her curry, I'm not a huge curry person so I wasn't a huge fan, but at least she liked it.
The service was great, everyone was super friendly. I ended up leaving my credit card behind and they were so awesome about it. When I called, the person asked me if I had left my credit card there before I even had a chance to finish my sentence, I told them my sister was going to pick it up for me (they had it stashed in the safe), and the waiter immediately recognized her when she came in. I would absolutely come here again and (sadly) I'd probably order the exact same thing.... There's a reason this place has such high reviews, excellent food, fantastic service... I only hope that I can also try the brunch someday.

We'll worth the 45min walk! I had heard great things from several friends so decided to check it out. I hadn't realised how quaint and small it was so was very pleased that there was a table free (I would suggest booking if possible). The food was amazingly delicious, in fact the steak was one if the best I've ever had (steak for breakfast, only in America!). The place had exceptional service and outstanding food. I would recommend

Food- 1 star
Service- 4 stars
Based on what I had to eat, I would be fine never coming back to this restaurant. The green shaksuka was watery, bland, and the eggs barely baked. After two bites, I didn’t want anymore. For dessert, I had the spiced cheesecake. It was cheesecake with pumpkin spice flavoring. The biggest offense was that it was the densest cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life. Like a brick. One of the most uninspiring meals I’ve ever had. The stars are for really good service. Our server was great.

Awesome breakfast/brunch place. One of the best I had in NY during my 10 day visit.
I chose to go here based on the many good reviews and recommendations on YouTube etc. Was worth the 1.2 miles walk from the hotel. I had "Maya's breakfast" bowl. Healthy and tasty and filling.
Another reason why it's a good idea to visit is that, there's a topshop and Bloomingdale nearby. And Chinatown/little Italy is walkable from here.

I can't stop raving about Jack's Wife Freda! For starters, we arrived the morning of a Nor'easter, and were pleasantly surprised that we got seated immediately and out of the snow. Our server was exceptional. Not only did he make incredible suggestions, but he also gave me a cantaloupe mimosa on the house when I couldn't make up my mind about whether or not I should have a second (for future reference, the answer here is always yes). I had the shakshuka with a side of duck bacon, and it was so flavourful. The brioche toast is sweet and fluffy and soaks up the sauce perfectly. This restaurant is also incredibly cozy, and they've thought of every little detail, from the matchboxes, to the custom sugar packets, to the charming paper menus. I will be back next time I'm in NY.
