Nice business. Very helpful. Alec is super helpful! Better prices than Lowe's. Family owned. Need more businesses like this!

We used Joels to recarpet our dental office in Greenville. They gave us the best price compared to Greenwood carpet dealers AND Greenville carpet dealers. Their installation took 4 days, and the job is perfect. You can't see one seam! Alec was awesome getting me samples and communicating about the order and setting up the schedule. Thank you so much Alec and Joel. We are very happy customers. :)

My family has dealt with Joel's three times, and each time was increasingly worse. They apparently did a fantastic job on my mum's house, they did an alright job on my storefront's flooring, although it took about 3 weeks of the run around to get them to actually show up and do it, and then this most recent interaction, my parents wanted them to come do the carpeting in their office.
When I dealt with them, I was told 3 different things by 3 different people about the flooring I wanted to put down. The gentleman who (I suppose) runs the front office, Joel's son I think, is very pleasant, but seems to have a hard time saying "no" to customers, because he repeatedly told me there would be no problem with the tiles I'd picked, only for me to get a phone call from his father saying they wouldn't put them down. Then, after speaking with his son again, he said it should be fine and scheduled us an appointment, the installation guy said "we put these in all the time, you shouldn't have any problems". Well, I did have problems, but when I called and spoke with them, the installation guy was nowhere to be found, and I got quite a bit of run around before being told by the owner "well that's why we don't install these! You're on your own" -- well, actually, you do. You just don't stand behind your work.
That was around a year ago, this week, they were supposed to be doing work on my parent's office. After a phone call confirming that new carpet could be laid over the old stuff (the landlord won't let them take up the old carpet), they made an appointment to have them come out and measure. Joel's then called us and made another, different appointment, and then called again at the time of that appointment to say they couldn't find the office. This is a local business, and we are like, 5 minutes away from them, but there you have it.
The man who showed up was, I believe, the business owner, as I had never dealt with him face to face before, but recognize him from the image they have here on google. He walked in, greeted us, and my father said that before they did anything else, he wanted to double check they *would* in fact place carpet over the old carpet in the office, a fact they had *already* confirmed over the phone only 48 hours prior.
Before he even finished his sentence Joel (I believe) was shaking his head, and practically cut him off to say "nope", with no further explanation or even attempt at customer service.
My father, already tempermental and now exasperated from dealing with reschedules only to be told "no, we won't do the thing we told you we would two days ago", waved him off and told him to leave (albeit rudely), and he did so after rolling his eyes, mumbling "good job!" under his breath, and only on his way out of the building did he manage a pissy "y'all have a good one".
I understand that my dad is not the easiest guy in the world to work with, but what you have to go through with this business to get things done is downright silly, and, having worked in customer service for 9 years, I can say for certain that there is just no excuse for that kind of behavior.
I'm giving them two stars instead of one because they DID, in fact, do a very good job the first time we ever hired them, some 4 or 5 years ago, but I will never be dealing with Joel's again, because it's worth the little bit of extra to hire Snead's, or Lowe's, and deal with actual professionals.
So, the conclusion to be drawn here is:
If you have lots of time to spare on these jobs, don't mind reiterating yourself multiple times, and want the absolute cheapest work in Greenwood, Joel's is for you. If you can afford to pay a little more, don't want to be told a different thing by every employee you speak to, and want to deal with a company in which more than one employee has a bit of decorum, then hire someone else.
