I love this jewelry store, even though the stock is limited, there's definitely something for every budget. Was referred here by saleswoman at a lingerie store after complimenting her on a ring she was wearing.
So while doing Christmas shopping I decided to pop in and have a looksie at all the shiny pretties. I had also brought a few diamond rings in to get a value guesstimate, which I already had a good idea of, so that I can sell them myself online.
Although the store was very busy and all five salespeople were currently helping customers, I was immediately greeted by Mary, and told someone would be with me asap. She happened to be done first and came over to assist me. She was so kind reviewing the value of what I'd brought in and checking the diamond's for quality and any repairs that might be needed. Even though this wasn't an official appraisal, she took time to go over each piece with me, answering all my questions cheerfully.
Fortunately by then things had slowed down, because I was like a kid in a candy store trying on things that there was no way I could afford to purchase, and she totally indulged me. Within minutes having figured out my style, she was pulling out things I would like. I did end up purchasing a beautiful, very reasonably priced ring as a gift to myself, along with the lifetime warranty, which she clearly explained in detail. I love that you can bring your purchase in more frequently than every six months for inspection and cleaning.
After wearing my new purchase overnight and a good part of the next day, I decided I wanted just a bit more bling, but with the same style of setting and cut of main stone. I went back in to see Mary and after trying a couple different choices, I walked out with beauty, that was not much more than my initial purchase, yet just perfect, and will hold its value due to its certification and it being a flawless Leo. The exchange went quickly and smoothly. Kay gives you 60 days, I believe to make sure you're happy and if not, exchange or return.
While I was doing the exchange she pointed out a few things that were DEEPLY discounted managers choice, one day sale. I ended up getting my mom, and a gift from each kid to their aunt of diamond's, with the warranty under a hundred dollars for all three.
I cannot recommend Mary highly enough, I went in there with no intention of buying, possibly having work done, and ended up having one of the most enjoyable purchase experiences of my life. No high pressure sales, nor any discrimination based on appearance, everyone being treated with dignity and respect. You never know when that homeless looking person, could be the one to buy the most pricey piece and the woman who appears wealthy, only buys a twenty dollar item. This team is great about treating each customer as if they are the most important person in the store.
The only reason I didn't give them five stars, is because it didn't appear that they were able to do any wheeling and dealing or bargaining on price, beyond sales and their corporate reward system. While the reward system is nice, it needs improvement...if you have a grand or more in points, you should be able to use them to the full purchase of an item, not just a third off the price. A 5 star store, especially when in the market of high value items, should be able to do some negotiating on prices to insure a sale AND most of all a repeat customer.

I bought a watch for my Fiancé about a year ago and the experience went very well. The representative was professional and was very helpful. I went back to purchase my Fiancé's wedding band and the experience was the opposite. The girl looked like she had just rolled out from a night of partying. She acted like I was bothering her and unhelpful at all. I ended up leaving because she clearly did not want to help me so I wouldn't help her make a sale.

After waking up to a diamond missing from my wedding ring this morning, I called Kay Jewelers in Lawrence to discuss procedure and what to expect throughout the process of replacing the diamond and repairing my ring. The ring was purchased just over two years ago at a Kay Jewelers in Legends. My husband had paid an additional sum for the Lifetime Warranty. The woman I spoke with at the Lawrence location was short, unpleasant, and unhelpful. I opted to call the store in Legends.
Kay Jewelers (Lawrence, KS) was just the beginning of my nightmare. While the woman who I spoke with at the Legends store was a generally kind person, and likely would have helped if she could, Kay Jewelers' warranty program is a scam. Per the warranty agreement, the ring must be taken to a store once every six months to be inspected. I had taken the ring in to be cleaned on multiple occasions (more than twice a year), assuming it was also being inspected when taken to the back. Here's where they get you: at Kay Jewelers 'cleanings' are different from 'inspections.' Inspections have to be signed off on, entered into the system, etc. None of this was ever mentioned when we purchased the ring, or during the many cleanings we brought it in for. Needless to say, when I called today Kay Jewelers refused to cover the expense of the lost diamond. I took the ring to reputable local jeweler who found NINE loose diamonds. We will NEVER purchase another piece of jewelry from any Kay Jeweler location.
If you live in Lawrence, shop local! Kizer Cummings' level of customer service is unparalleled, their selection is stunning, and when you bring in a piece of jewelry to be cleaned, it is their standard protocol to inspect it as well.
