Beautiful forest. There are definitely some awe inspiring spectacular views that will take your breath away! Me and my best friend drove through here on the way to see his younger brother. We had to stop several times to take in the views and explore a little. It was very pretty but you could definitely see that a lot of the damage from the recent fires was still there

It’s a very moody landscape that brings many smiles as it clears your head from the stresses of everyday life, just as it also brings dust storms, snow, floods, fires, sunburns, waterfalls, some of the best most colorful skies while you are hiking it’s 100’s of miles of trails or camping or just sight seeing the plentiful wildlife. There is a lot available for everyone of every skill level, but be sure to ask where before you venture if you don’t know. Conditions change rapidly and “unexpected” rescues occur almost daily because it appears much safer than it is at the entrances and welcome signs.

This is the three bridges trail in atascadero. Very nice, well kept wide paths. For those who complain about it being slightly sloped, grow up. It's a hiking trail. Keep it on the road if it's such a problem. Right now is the best. It's raining, it's gorgeous, there's lots of trees and native plants and at the moment salamanders/newts are making a break to the lower areas (water) by the hundreds so watch your step. They are slow and difficult to see. I run this trail with my dog and because it's raining there's no one else out which is prefect since most people in this day in age are complete garbage. Beside the point. It's a great trail. Steady incline, not too steep, perfect for running, beautiful terrain and my only real complaint is the "summit" though a decent view of a small portion of the North county is not as cool as it backs up to the remaining Hill and the view is maybe a 180°. But I still love it.

Sites have a sturdy picknic table, fire ring, and grill. No water, so bring your own water. Pit toilets are decent and sturdy. Plenty of cut up pine trees on the ground that may be used as fire wood once you split it yourself. Bring a shovel to fill in large critter holes. There is a nice mix of Oak trees for shade and a little protection from winds. Elevation arround 3500 feet. Some cell phone coverage. Good access to Ham Radio repeaters. Summer can have a lot of flies and tourists.

Great local state ran park, lots of sites with full hook up at most places. Lots of wildlife, deer, foxes, squirrels and oh yeah Ticks....it was Tick season and you have to check your pants before heading inside. Overall great place for kids and families.
