Mountain Home State Forest

I grew up here. Now I long for it. The mountain is calling my name. This is truly a magical place.

So beautiful up there. Plenty to see especially this time of year there are still a lot of streams and small falls.

Coming from a very hot area mountain home wilderness is the greatest of all escapes it is a place my family and friends visit many times throughout the year and it never disappoints. At an elevation of just a little over 6000 feet elevation the temperatures are about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than where we live. The views and clean beautiful mountain setting is so spectacular that you will never get enough. On hot summer days swimming below the crystal clear and cold waterfalls will surely invigorate anyone and recharge you before heading back down the mountan. The drive is pretty winding so be careful of large rig when making the drive up there. If you have never been this should definitely be a destination that you add to your list. Just no that they close the roads after veterans day and do not reopen them until memorial day. The memorial trail is also a trail that would not disappoint if you are looking for a great family hike

Gate's locked but great physical hike up the Balch Park road. Beautiful Redwoods without the congestion of tourist and traffic.

Well kept and plenty of camping sites if your willing to drive all the way in.
