Mandarin

This is a local favorite. Very good. When in season the asparagus chicken is wonderful. The food is authentic. It isn't a fast food flavor. The orange chicken has real orange peel in the sauce. The Walnut shrimp is one of my family's favorite. You can't go wrong eating here. Call ahead for seating. The wait is usually quite long.

This place is okay at best. It’s perfectly ordinary Chinese food that is plated nicely and in a nice atmosphere. The decor is probably the best part of this restaurant. The look of finer dining plus regular prices for Chinese food mean this place is a go-to fancy night out for lots of people. This place is PACKED almost always. It’s not because of the food. Plates are either ordinary or extremely confused (Thai curry with sweet potato, peanuts, peas, and broccoli?). The good news is it’s traditional American Chinese comfort food at ordinary prices. This is also the bad news.

Get here early if you don't want to wait! Expect the line to go out the door and through the parking lot before the restaurant even opens. Once you do sit down, there isn't a bad thing to order. We get everything family style so we can try a bit of it all. The staff is amazing, the facilities are clean and their customer service is extraordinary.

We love the Mandarin! It has been a family favorite for years, and it never disappoints us. Try the Malaysian Fried Rice, I love it! We also love their lettuce wraps and the flourless chocolate cake. We have a number of people in our family who cannot eat gluten or dairy, the Mandarin always does a great job of accommodating them. Be prepared to wait a bit, as the Mandarin is a popular place to eat. They do not take reservations unless you have a group of 8 or larger.

If you are looking for good Chinese food in Utah with good service I highly recommend the Mandarin. Probably the best Chinese restaurant in UT. Only problem is it is really far north from SLC and Utah County. Secret tip they have a dish called "Spice Girl Chicken" that is not on the menu. They also have really good cashew chicken. And the homemade egg rolls are the best.
