I love the DC MicroTek! The staff is always kind and helpful. They have breakfast foods, snacks and cookies everyday that my students always appreciate. It's very easy to get to and centrally located around several lunch places.
Microtek DC is awesome! As a software instructor, it is awesome to walk into an environment which is always conducive to great learning experiences. The staff is incredibly helpful and responsive. I always look forward to the 2pm fresh cookie break! I would highly recommend using Microtek DC for your next training class!
Came here for a 2 day work training session. The entrance to the building is secured, and you must check in with photo ID and reason/location for being there. Microtek was on 7th floor, so security gave me a pass for the week, and had to unlock the 7th floor for the elevator purposes otherwise you must have a badge to get off on any floor. The training room entrance had a receptionist desk, and a luncheon area, with a fridge full of drinks, and a counter with small breakfast items bagels, fruit, granola bars, coffee, etc. There were 10 training rooms, a sitting area, and 2 bathrooms on this level. We were in training room 9, which had many windows for natural light, 9 student computers, and 1 teacher computer. There was a white board and projector as well. The entire office was clean, and I felt safe with the security in place to enter the building. Microtek provided lunch for the training classes each day. The first day was lasagna and salad, and the second day was oriental chicken and Brocolli stirfry, and salad with ginger dressing. There is a Starbucks right outside and next door to the building itself, if you preferred. Good experience overall.
The staff was nice, they had a good selection of snacks and drinks, and the facility was nice and clean. The down side and why I took away 3 stars is the primary focus is this is for training. The monitors I happened to get stuck sitting at looked like they'd been dropped down stairs. Their internet was baaaaaddd. The projector screen is 1/3 blocked from where I sat because of how low it was and the guys head in front of me. So I tried following the instructors screen share. I kept getting disconnected, 9 times in the first 2 hrs, and having to reconnect to the lesson. I wasn't the only one bc when you reconnect it came back with volume on and the class was scattered with momentary audio of the instructior also coming from someone's computer. I finally shut down my supplied desktop, pulled out my work laptop, and took the rest of the course off my personal Hotspot bc the hard line was not consistent 7-10mbps down and their wifi was 0.6 - 0.9 mbps yes, sub 1 Mbps... The place was nice but I am not happy that my training was here. *edit So, I really want to reiterate. The staff was incredibly awesome and helpful. I feel bad taking 2 stars off add 1 on from 2 to 3 bc the staff was great for the internet, but being here for a tech training course I would value it as essential. The hardline on the supplied desktops was unreliable which to me sounds like bad network switches. Their wifi, while slow was stable and seemed to work the second day of the course while using my laptop. If they replace or configure their network switches properly which I hope the management looks into I'd give 5*
Used this facility for training. Very friendly staff, clean environment and great food and beverage.
I am planning to attend a course here and would like to know about the parking facility as it would take me for ever if I travel by metro.
