Marriott Marquis Washington, DC

While I did not personally stay at the Marriott Marquis, I did see and spend time in a room. They were clean and just as you would expect for a high quality hotel. Granted, it was not stunning, but it served its purpose. The real reason I am rating the marquis so high is for their great meeting spaces. They have 4 floors of multiple meeting spaces and rooms. That includes a large ballroom. As a bonus, the hotel is conveniently connected via underground tunnel to the nearby convention center.

One of the newer hotels in downtown Washington DC, the Marriott Marquis is a great mid quality hotel with almost 1,200 rooms. Priced competitively, the modern interior looks fantastic. Right next to the DC Walter Washington Convention Center, the Marquis is conveniently located to support the many conventions hosts there. I'm a fan of the cocktails and bourbon program at the hotel bar, The Dignitary. The hotel is smoke free and is not pet friendly (no pets policy). Outside of that, it is a nice hotel.

I spent a weekend here with my hubby and it was very nice. The room was excellent. We very much enjoyed the sports bar on the main floor. This hotel is located within walking distance of a variety of restaurants and monuments. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no complaints.

I attended a catered event, on one of the sub floors. "Everything" was nice, as you'd expect from a professional operation like this. If there was a stand out, it was the staff mood. As background, I was volunteering, wearing a huge teddy bear costume (long story). Anyway, when the event participants were crowding me for hugs or photos, the staff periodically asked for some - politely, in an acceptable way. Point is, they were in a good mood. Service industries are full of miserable people. The staff here were in a pretty good mood, which speaks volumes for the way they are treated by management. Happiness trickles down to the way they perform.

This hotel is beautiful. All of the staff have been friendly and courteous. I stayed in a room with a single king bed. It also had a mini-fridge, multiple dressers with drawers. A large closet, computer desk, a large chair, and a TV that has Netflix built in, you just need to sign in. There was also a 1 cup coffee brewer, iron and board, and s hair dryer. The bathroom has a nice tile wall in shower.
