Beautiful place for the family and friends. Great to learn more of the history. And great to walk in the trails and see a lot of natural life.

This is a very special place, authentic, filled with family stories, and perfect for explaining how the Appalachian peoples survived and thrived in this remote mountain valley. The plaque on the main cabin actually tells you the number of children born in that very structure! And all the smaller outbuildings had their function, which is duly explained by plaques and a little brochure you can pick up at the entrance to the farm. My wife was so inspired that she wants to start gardening/farming like this herself!

It was beautiful walk by the river. Enjoyed the historical buildings. Went back near sunset and saw elk
