If you are so unfortunate enough to be admitted to this hospital, make sure you have a family member or friend to advocate your needs for you. Patient care is deplorable there! Just utterly unacceptable. I just returned home from an afternoon of helping my sister who is a patient there, and I am still reeling from the anger I feel, for lack of care which borders on malpractice. She is NOT getting the proper care she needs there. Sadly, I think this is the state of medical care not uncommon in our country now.

Beware! This place uses a Physician Assistant (PA) in the ER. I was told by the female PA that there was nothing wrong with me! I had been asleep for 10 days, severely dehydrated , and had been running a 103 degree fever for the whole time. When I was released the nurse put a blood pressue cuff about a 1/2 inch from my IV needle, turned on the blood pressure machine and began trying to take out the needle. All I could see is her breaking the needle off into my vein. SCAREY! My blood pressure was 170/80! (But there is nothing wrong with me!) I went to my primary doctor that Monday and he disagreed with the not-to-bright employees of Northwest Medical Center. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else of at least avoid the female PA! They keep insisting I'm diabetic there, as well. I told them over and over I've been checked and am not diabetic!

Nurses here are top notch but over worked, had a family member here for 5+ days twice in a year, nurses remembered me the second time but there are only 2-3 working at a time per floor and are running from the time they start to the time they are off. Doctors are average for a hospital. Dietitician is horrible, but assume that if you are over weight that you eat nothing healthy. Meals (room and cafeteria) are well above average!

My husband was admitted via ambulance emergency for heart issue and had a quadruple heart bypass. The cardiac team was amazing.... Very professional... Very knowledgeable and caring. I was so impressed with the compassion and care everyone displayed and cannot say enough positive things about this hospital. Thank you for existing and being a 5 star quality of care facility.

I went to the NW Medical Center Tucson Emergency for completions with Jaundice brought on by blocked bile ducts. The admitted me to the hospital that day. The care I received was excellent. I went through 3 procedures in five days. The nursing staff, doctors down to the building maintence staff were all great to me. They treated me with respect and we're very friendly, caring and helpful. The food service was good. They need some improvement I believe on getting the correct meals for diabetes patient's by all levels of the staff. That's why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Food selection was ok but for main meals there is but one selection. The meals all looked good to me especially when I was on a liquid diet! The testing facilities were aldo excellent as I had an MRI, CT, and Ultrasound test and extra done there the last three months. I am very pleased with this facility and there staff. Surgical staff and facilities were also excellent. They do have you sign papers of approval before surgery and on one occasion I was rushed through this process as the delivery person was a little late getting me into the surgery center. Other then that there surgical staff was fantastic. I went home with a comprehensive treatment plan, and perscripions along with information on my further treatment. The supervisor stopped in my room and asked me how her staff was treating me and I did tell her about one nurse talking loudly in the middle of the night. I called her the load nurse! I do realize it is a hospital and getting enough sleep is hard enough with frequent interruption and noise. But if a nurse is talking to a patient in the middle of the night they could close the door to that room. I to kept my door closed at night after that sleepless night. The facility is a for profit hospital so they do need your money and insurance info to keep the lights on. The insurance person from the hospital saw me right after getting out of surgery so I was still groggy. I feel the insurance person should have better correspondence with the medical staff as to when to talk to the patient about paying your bill and insurance coverage. I was groggy so told him just to bill me. The hospital inshurance person was also very helpful and did explained my payment needs to me clearly. But the next day it seemed like a dream to me that I talked to him as I was still waking up from the surgery medication when he spoke to me.
