Owensboro Municipal Utilities

After multiple instances of never receiving a bill until after my due dates, to having my meter being read wrong, then I receive an $800 bill for one month, saying that the meter was read wrong and I had to pay extra to make up for their mistakes. Customer service was TERRIBLE. I told them that I flat out could not pay it. They said that I would have 2 months to pay it. I told them that as unacceptable and that it was their mistakes that caused this whole ordeal. Well that's the best they can do, instead they want to make their problem my problem. They are CROOKS. People cannot afford your mistakes.

Extremely rude, omu could care less about customers. Gave me an ELEVEN HUNDRED dollar security deposit based on previous occupants billing and were "nice"enough to let me pay that in monthly installments (it's a fairly smaller house too)... If there was another option I would have took it. I advise people to see who there water/electric provider is before they move in or omu will screw you too

Very nice, they allowed me to make payments on a past due bill when my house caught fire at 625 booth ave. Thank you.

OMU has been the supplier of electricity and water services to over half the county for decades. They are incredibly fair in their billing, and are one of the first Kentucky utility companies to buy back extra solar output customers may generate via solar paneling. They are also planning to provide 1 Gbps fiber internet for public customers in the Owensboro area by late 2017. They have shown incredible innovation, fairness, and humble service to the city and county.
