Red Roof Inn Kalamazoo West

Its ok...the room we had the cleaning people just rolled a blunt and left their evidence in the room. The water flow from faucet and showers is yellow. It looks like rust or urine from flushed toilet water. They need to do something about both. The beds were comfortable, the pillows were so flat. I think Red Roof needs a makeover real soon.

I've stayed at this hotel about 8 different times because it always has vacancy and is the cheapest in the area. It is not a nice hotel, but the beds aren't bad and I've not had any problems with the heater or plumbing. Technically that's all you really need in a cheap hotel. As a bonus, the staff that works in the lobby has always been helpful and friendly and I've never really felt unsafe here. But: -The room will smell like either cigarette smoke, or the powerful cleaning solution they use to cover up cigarette smell. -You'll have a 35% chance of noisy neighbors or loud people in the parking lot at night. -There will be maintenance issues. Lights that don't work. Missing TV remote. Your key card is very likely to fail. -The housekeeping isn't top notch but they get the job done.

The only reason I am giving two stars is because the front desk was moderately polite. I checked in and they made me run my card before I even entered the room. That should have been the first red flag. When I went to room 143 it looked liked it hadn’t been cleaned. The bed skirts had unknown substances all over them, the top blankets had burn holes, the floors weren’t swept or mopped, the counters had old food on them, & The lights were covered in dust. I didn’t unpack and went straight down to the front desk. The gentleman was Kind and “upgraded” me to a king suite. This room was not any better and I went back down to the front desk to cancel all together. He said, he couldn’t refund my card & that a manager will have to do it. I booked for 3/24/2018. I wouldn’t ever recommend.

The sheriffs department spent extended periods of time patrolling or looking for someone, either reason not being good. The room was below par. Dirty sheets, stains on the cover and a dirty exterior/ interior feel and appearance. I get its a motel, but for the price, I'll snooze in my car. The front desk staff was very kind generally and was understanding when I got my money back and left to next door.

I have traveled all over the country and this had to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We were suspicious at check-in when no less than three guests were arguing with the people behind the desk about things that were said or done in their rooms by staff members. One of our rooms was filled with marijuana smoke. Our other room had urine in the bed. The floors were sticky, the counter was filthy. There were rough looking people up all night in the parking lot. This place was terrible, do not stay here.
