Sears Hometown Store

I had a pleasant experience with the young man from whom I bought a refrigerator at the Corvallis store. Delivery did not go so well. They failed to call me the night before, as promised, because apparently my order defaulted to an old phone number from 10 years ago and a different address from the one to which I asked the fridge to be delivered. After that was straightened out, the delivery guys were supposed to call me when they were en route. They didn't. Then they were in a huge hurry, having been delayed at an earlier job. First they said they wouldn't take the old fridge, which I had paid to be taken, because it required taking the doors off to get it out the house door. I had to do that for them. Then they hurridely set the new fridge in place, slapped the door handles on OVER the plastic wrapping, and ran out the door. I had to take the handles off, and set up the fridge myself. Not a big deal for me, but I could see some elderly person who actually needs help being let down. Not impressed. I should have just paid more to buy a fridge from our locally-owned appliance store, as their customer service is always excellent.

We really try to support locally owned businesses and have purchased from Corvallis Hometown Sears in the past, but when we tried to return a faulty hedge trimmer, the clerk was so rude and nasty that they have lost our business. To bad, Sears has some good products and prices, just not a good local partner in Corvallis.

Unimpressed by how little the customer service people know about their products. Seems like once the sale is made they wash their hands of any and all issues with their products. They leave you to the mercy of third party vendors/installers and Sears directly. Also it seems the salespeople are constantly changing and they don't seem trained very well.

We stopped by twice last Saturday looking for shop vac and store was closed. Did not appear to open all day. No notes or comments.
