Smyrna Utilities Department

I have been living in my same apartment for over 2 years. I called the water company and asked why I had not received a bill for the month if August. TRhe lasy in this phone stated that they sent the the bull out to my address and hat maybe the mailman put the bill in the wrong box. I stated to the lady that I have had the same mailman since I have moved to Smyrna so I dnt think that he would put my water bill in the wrong box. So now my bill is late, added on top of it all they are charging a late for of 10% on to my bill. I have never not gotten a bill and is funny that all of a sudden for the month of august my bill is missing!

Setting up utilities was one of the first things I did when I moved to the area - and based on previous experiences in other towns, I was kind of dreading it. I cannot tell you how friendly and professional they were - I left there thinking "Wow, that was actually great!" To this day, these folks do a fantastic job.

Had to go out of town and attempted to pay my bill on line as to not be late. I was extremely shocked to see that a fee would be charged if I paid on-line or called in a credit card. Either way I would be charged a fee. That is so ridiculous. This is modern day and with all the technology available you are not even set up to receive EFT payments directly from my bank account. Get with program and move into the modern age of technology and quite charging for every little bit of service. Some individuals can barely pay their bills and don't need the additional fees you are tacking on!!!!!

Absolutely ridiculous. I went to city hall to have a new gas service installed at my home. While I was there I was going to have automatic payment setup. They said that would require a voided check. Well it's the 21st century and not only do I not have checks I have never even written a check. When handed the paper work I then realized they only needed my account and routing number. I told them I had that information. They would not except this and would require a letter head from the bank with this information. I was aggrivated but agreed. I was then instructed to go to the cashier to check out. I handed the cashier my card and then was informed I was going to be charged nearly $10 to use my card. Needless to say the Town of Smyrna did not get my business.
