It's a nice hike with a little up and down but not too bad. Go in early spring and you may catch the ice on trees and plants which makes for a interesting addition to your hike

Hiking to the Appalachian Trail was a great experience. The views at the top were very nice and there is ample camping and a shelter at the top. There is also a shelter 1.5 miles from the trailhead for overflow. There were a few signs about bears being present but there are plenty of bear boxes and places to hang bags in trees.

We parked at the Springer Mountain Parking Lot for the AT and hiked to the Terminus. Just under a mile each way. Beautiful hike. A bit of an uphill hike on the way in with many small rocks, but not a terribly difficult hike. Stopped by the Springer Mountain Shelter on the way back to the car.

A beautiful, historic place! NOTE: If you are traveling to the nearby parking lot on the forest service road, access from Nimblewill is temporarily closed. You will need to use the FS road from Double Gap Road to the west.)
