We love Sweetwater. We bought a state park pass with the idea we'd visit multiple state parks and we've spent the majority of our visits here. It's just a really great location, they have really pretty, well kept trails, they have restroom facilities in several places throughout the park, they have a couple of playground areas, lots of picnic spots and although we've never taken advantage of it, great fishing places. They also offer all kinds of programs and events all the time, boating classes, archery classes, you name it. This is definitely a jewel in West Georgia.

Gorgeous Trails! I love the river, or Creek,as they call it! The Red Trail next to the creek is the prettiest, however it is pretty steep and Rocky and areas, so you have to be very careful. A hiking stick would come in very handy. The thing I like most about it is that Sweetwater Creek has lots of boulders and rocks around it and in it, and there are some good spillways, mini waterfalls, and rapids. It's so peaceful, and seems more like it's in the mountain's of North Carolina. Hard to believe this beautiful park is in metro Atlanta! Great place to spend a few hours hiking, or strapping up a hammock and hanging by the creek for a nap!

Loved our hike here! We first visited the visitors center, which has more information on the mill. It also had live snakes and turtles and goldfish! You can find some snacks and souvenirs as well. We ended up doing the 5 mile loop, white trail. It took us about 2.25 hours, but we hiked by the Sweetwater Creek, Jack's Branch upstream and lake, and the meadows. We saw many birds, lizards, geese, and different types of plants and flowers. If you plan to do the white trail, I'd recommend you go left in the beginning of the trail, instead of the right (it's "easier").

Amazing place to hike, BBQ and spend some quality time. Red, White and Yellow trails clearly marked, Red being the easy one that runs along the river. Full hike is not recommended for people with knee problems since we had to climb rocks.
People with kids can take stroller till Mill/Factory. Saw few people leaving it there and going down further down to river right next to the factory.
We went on weekend it was lightly crowded. $5 Parking required, after hours its honor system. Trail;s are well maintained with signs.

I was introduced to Sweet Water about two years ago and it is hands down my favorite place to go. It is a positively beautiful park with great rangers and so many fun activities! There's fishing, ducks and geese, many different kinds of boats you can buy and take out, trails, camping, and events like moonlit paddling. Admission is also just $5! If you haven't gone, go! It's fantastic.
