We really like this trail a lot because it is a natural, unpaved trail with a nice overlook of the river, a bamboo forest, and access to get into the river. It is also shaded so it is a good option for the hot summer months in Atlanta. Our biggest complaint is that there are no bathrooms. Also, when it has been rainy there are parts of the trail that get very muddy. Also be aware that there are some moderate hills involved. Overall it is one of our favorite places to hike.

Park off of Indian Trail Road on either end of an unpaved, winding route. Like others have said, it's a one-way road, so it may get hectic if it's busy, but on a chillier day/weekday it's not too busy.
Fun, moderate hike from the end of the parking area. The trail goes downhill to the riverbank, parallels the river, then heads back uphill to a bluff with a wooden deck overlooking the river. I haven't yet explored the arteries further north, but from the overlook you can take an undulating trail through the woods to reach the parking area again.
Single parking passes are $5, but a yearly Chattahoochee River Recreation Area Pass is $40, and the $80 America the Beautiful pass is also valid.

I love this trail inside the loop of Atlanta. Great trail system with many different options. The views of the Chattahoochee are beautiful and don’t miss the cane forest!!

Amazing trail, had no idea there was such a large forest area located in sandy springs. Beautiful bluffs, and right near the chattahoochee.

The main trail is breath taking, with views for days. Lots of hills, zig zags, and leaves. The entire trail is a soft trail. Some places it's hard to see the trail. Blue markers make a trail path on some trees to help lead the way. Parts of the main path are very slippery, be careful, especially with kids. The walk along the river is peaceful and very flat, good for a run. We took a trail that was off the beaten path, it was enchanting and beautiful, but getting back to the car was all uphill and the paths weren't marked. Stay the path unless you're a true adventurer. We didn't get to see the bamboo forest, will have to come back. Con: Parking, we arrived around 8am on Saturday, parking was plenty. When we left around 10:45a, we couldn't get out, people park every where. The way in and out, is a one way street. It was a bit hectic, but parking was free. People had there dogs off leash most were friendly dogs, but definitely not ideal.
