Tallahassee Animal Shelter

Staff were very rude to us when we expressed interest about trying to adopt. They seemed very protective of the pets, which is nice, but the whole point of the shelter is for pets to get adopted. We ended up adopting a cat from Petco that, coincidentally, had come from this shelter. We only had her for two and a half months before she started having severe issues. She was drinking excessively and going to the bathroom much more. Then, out of nowhere, she became incredibly ill and began throwing up. We visited a vet that told us she needed surgery, but they couldn't do it on the weekends, so we should wait until Monday. Needless to say, our cat was too sick to wait that long. We ended up visiting an emergency vet where they told us that she had several severe issues and had likely had them long before we adopted her. We unfortunately had to put her to sleep. Heartbroken, the cat we had come to love died in just three months. I understand it is not the shelter's job to thoroughly inspect each animal's health, but it seems like they would have been able to spot some of these issues if she had had them as long as the animal hospital claims. It certainly would have saved us the emotional pain and a lot of money.

Wonderful place that I can't visit, because I want to bring every cat, dog and rabbit home. It's so clean that it is easy to visit to choose a future family member.

Got Sheena microchipped. Easy and quick. The staff was friendly and helpful. The phone was ringing off the hook, but she was able to balance me In the shelter, and help customers on the phone with ease and friendliness.

We just wanna say Thank you! Again. For our sweet baby "Speckles"🤗. Aka "Speckle Doodle". The Employees at the Tallahassee Animal shelter were Awesome in helping our family to find the perfect addition.

They have a good selection to choise from. It takes a special heart to care for these God-created beings. Some of them have been through so much. Thank you.
