My parents have both been here and recommended this place on different occasions when we would pass through town. I finally got to try and and lord have mercy was it deliciously scrumptious. The parking lot and inside seating is fairly big and there wasn't a wait when we stopped in on a Thursday afternoon. Menus are to the left of the order line. After we decided what we wanted we walked up to the gentleman at the end of the counter and he yelled the order to the servers which I have to say was pretty fun to hear and watch everyone in action. As we moved down the line with our empty trays we were tempted with homemade pies and cobbler. The woman in front of us had ordered 3 servings of their famous peach cobbler. It must be good! We didn't have enough room to try it because the food we ordered was so filling! I ordered the chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese. The chicken was lightly breaded and didn't taste heavily fried. They weren't heavily seasoned and made for a very light and juicy taste. The sweet potato fries were sprinkled with brown sugar cinnamon and what tasted of honey and butter. The macaroni and cheese was my favorite as it tasted like southern homemade mac n cheese. The kind you eat at holidays and special occassions when families gather. If I had anything negative to say the only thing I would change is the dining area as it could use some restoration. Other than that this place is top notch in my book. We'll be back again!!

We heard about it through Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. So we drove 2 hours to give it a try. My husband had the pulled pork and said it was pretty good. I had the clam strips and they were good, however the onion rings were greasy. Huge portion but very disappointed because they were so greasy. Iced tea was very good.

100% dissatisfied. I brought my son to this iconic restaurant in the area. One cheeseburger each. One order of cheese french fries each. One drink each. $21. The burger tasted unseasoned. The meat was tough as though it were generic. It was more like a microwave burger that you would get in a gas station.

The service was okay and the portions were huge. However, the food I ordered was extremely oily. Some bits of the fried chicken had these great flaky crispy bits to them but the rest was soggy and I had to use 9 napkins to sop up the extra oil. The beacon burger aplenty meat was bland and the cheese was cold and unmelted. However, the tater tots were yummy and the fries too :) the onion rings had so much oil but a good taste. For the two meals with water we spent $23.38.

My Wife and I have been going to the Beacon with our Grandson for years. We absolutely LOVE the Gentleman that greets you, whilst calling out your order! That man will remember you EVERY TIME! He is also the main reason we continue to dine at the Beacon, other than the food of course. But on our latest visit, we we're sad to observe that the neighborhood is turning this Historic Restaurant into a death trap. We literally had to wait outside the restaurant while some customers in the line decided they we're done arguing to an almost brawl. We almost left as soon as seeing that happen but we still decided to dine since those arguing left. But as we were walking to our vehicle we noticed men out in the parking lot running down every single person leaving the restaurant to bang on their windows wanting money or whatever. So we literally had to run our grandson to the Jeep to get the heck out of there, barely. As I was pulling off the man was already banging on our window asking for money in the most violent fashion I have EVER experienced. Hopefully this isn't going to always be the atmosphere of the Beacon. Till then, sadly I'll eat elsewhere.
