The Dutch

The place is always packed and is quite difficult to do a last minute reservation, but the wait is worth it. The food is great, the venue is phenomenal, the location is very practical. The wine list is amazing, the appetizer were delicious and the food is very tasty. I had the duck entree and it was delicious! My wife ordered the ravioli and they were very nice, but the portion of ravioli was quite small. In general I enjoyed the experience and we had a great time there.

Walking in you will notice that it's first class all the way, it's in Soho and you definitely feel that the restaurant is for upscale clientele. I enjoy expensive restaurants and this one was very good, I didn't mind the atmosphere but it definitely lacked a certain comfort feeling that I've received at other expensive restaurants even in the area. I use the term comfort only in atmosphere as the menu definitely contains comfort food. The menu is pretty diverse with a lot of southern options like hot fried chicken with honey biscuits or rack of lamb with jerk sauce. I ended up going with the fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes that included smoked mozzarella, the chicken was excellent and I mean that term excellent, sadly the biscuits were a tad dry and the mashed potatoes were standard fanfare but oh my goodness that chicken was to die for! I'll be heading back soon to try out brunch or their lunch menu as I've heard it's very solid as well.

I've been to The Dutch several times over the years and always love it. My group had a variety of cocktails and wine and enjoyed them all. I only remember the name of my drink was a North Fork 48. Absolutely wonderful! Stellar: wild halibut cha can Soft-shelled crab special Asparagus duck sausage appetizer Chinatown calamari appetizer (may be the best fried calamari I've ever eaten) French fries - they could only have been improved by having been fried in duck fat. Very good: fried chicken. We get this here every once in a while. This time was not as well-seasoned as usual. Still top notch. Great waiter! Some of us are talking about heading there for their Memorial Day Cookout.

Great service, excellent food and a very comfortable environment. I ordered the grass fed double chedder burger and it did not disappoint. My wife asked for it well but it was still medium. The fries were also great, crispy and very tasty and the ice tea was top notch. It's not cheap but it's worth every penny if your looking to treat yourself.

TL;DR: the food is overpriced, especially with rude staff. Their burger is really good. It’s not the typical lettuce and tomato burger, it has a slice of eggplant and cheese. Update: Went again for dinner and was disappointed. The food was ok but frankly, overpriced. $32 for fried chicken and 2 biscuits? On the service side, the waitress was nice but there was that guy, roaming around the room. I don’t know what his role was but he bumped my back several times when I was dining and never apologized. He cleaned up a few plates while people weren’t done. With prices that high, you can’t hire rude staff...
