I graduated from Tom P. Haney in 1975 from Commercial Art 2 year program while going to Bay High School. It was in 1974 that Tom P. Haney started their high school program and I was fortunate to be a part of it. My instructor, Mr. Chichester, was very nice and helpful. It was fun and freeing to go to Bay High School for English and then drive to Tom P. Haney for 3 hours of study and drawing in the Commercial Art Program. My parents trusted me to keep up my English grade, and I made an A both in English and a Certificate of Completion in Commercial Art for 2 years. How blesses I am to have had that experience. Thank you Jesus.
I would recommend Tom P. Haney to everyone.

Haney technical offers superior training. My experience here has been thorough and my education is well grounded with not only textbook understanding but hands on training by exceptional instructors.
Administration of Haney Tech seems often haphazzard and unnecessarily officious. Expect to have lab time taken to be called into the office, told to wait, then return again to be told to come back after hours, all while they select there favorite students to see first. If u have to deal with administration, plan on getting ur time wasted so they can deal with the favorites first because not every student there will be treated equally by administration. The teachers on the other hand are top notch!

Haney Technical Center is a great school. Small classroom sizes mean that students get more hands-on training and individualized attention. Tuition is extremely affordable, and there are lots of opportunities to get scholarships or sign up for financial aid. Industry partners work closely with the teachers and students to make sure that they are well-prepared when entering the workforce, and job placement rates for career technical students are high. Many of the programs have had complete renovations, which allows students to work in a setting similar to those in industry. Program lengths vary from 9 months to 2 years. Terrific value!!

Being a student at Haney Technical Center has been very rewarding. The staff and the instructors are all awesome. The administrative staff are constantly trying to find ways to make Haney a great learning environment for all. I am very thankful for my previous instructors Mrs. Laverne and Mrs. Sorrells, my current instructor Mrs. Tobias and the entire Haney staff for ensuring my success as a student. TODAY IS GRADUATION!!!!!!!!

I am a USAF retiree, and I attended Haney for the Office Admin course, using the GI bill. The instructor was Leann Kibler. Mrs. Kibler was FANTASTIC! She is kind, warm, caring, and intelligent. She cares very much about her role as an educator, and it is evident in her interactions with her students and her peers. She is organized and has a ton of experience as an educator. If not for Mrs. Kibler, I doubt I would have continued on as a student here. They should put her in charge.
The financial aid folks are a dream. Mrs. Pitts takes excellent care of the veterans and is professional and kind. Mr. Cash, a veteran himself, is ALWAYS helpful and kind...you will not see him without a smile on his face.
The front desk folks and counselors in student services are wonderful, as well. They provide prompt, professional assistance, and it is always with a smile.
The career counselor, Kim Nix, seems genuinely interested in helping the students obtain employment as they near graduation. She maintains excellent communication with students to help them plan. She provides resume classes and assists student in preparing for interviews...to include professional attire for interviews, if they need it. She offers a service that is truly beneficial to the students and the local businesses.
The administration of this school is a hot mess. The director, Ann Leonard, and her assistant, Angela Reese, lack communication skills and are unprofessional in their interactions with students. I've personally witnessed the director raising her voice in anger when talking to a paying customer. Unfortunately, Angela Reese was also present and rolled her eyes and snickered with her arms tightly folded across her chest as she watched. (Someone needs a refresher course in verbal and nonverbal communication.) It was embarrassing and ridiculous.
They have a gossiping issue in their office, so please protect your personal information. You definitely should not trust Leonard with anything private. At the very least, expect her to share it with Angela Reese, whether it's necessary or not. I know this from personal experience, and one of my classmates experienced the same problem. For us, it was shared with Angela Reese AND a fellow student. Yikes! Please use caution!
Leonard also does not protect files of former students. So if you want to know how a graduate (a member of your community who paid tuition to attend this school) did when they were in school, you can check, as the files are unlocked and unattended in a classroom. If you've had a background check done as a requirement of your course or for employment at this facility, a student recently had access to those and shredded the old ones for the administrators. Your personal information may have been compromised and shared with a student.
There is a phrase that is commonly used by Leonard and Reese... "We will treat you like adults when you act like adults." Wow! I found that to be a really unprofessional statement to make to adult students who are spending their hard earned money to attend this school, yet they say it routinely. I would have appreciated being treated more like a paying customer when dealing with the leadership of this organization.
If the course you want is available online through a different school, you might have fewer headaches. If they ever change the administration, it will probably be fine at Haney. I actually never heard or had ANY complaints about the educators...just their "leaders". Attend this school if you need the education and it's not available elsewhere... Just avoid Leonard and Reese like the plague.
It was very thoughtful of so many of the instructors from Haney to get on here and write positive reviews to help raise their rating. I suspect that was done at Leonard's behest. From a student's perspective, however, they have serious issues in their leadership that are affecting the education of the students.
You're welcome and best of luck!
