U-Haul Moving & Storage of Somerville

The return process did not work and wasted 2 hours of my time. U-Haul's customer service was not responsive with no response for over 30 minutes overall. I would recommend AGAINST using U-Haul until their level of service is improved. The truck itself was fine and clean. If it's your first time driving such truck, have someone with you to guide you while driving reverse.

Rented a space here one month ago and was happy to get this done as it was close to where we lived. Got a receipt and email confirmation. When I show up today, I was told that the space that I rented was "unavailable" and I was offered another smaller, dankier space. All this while the truck with my stuff was en route. Horrendous service. When I called uhaul customer service I was told a general manager would call me " soon". Never heard back. Stay away from this place.

The staff are friendly and helpful! However the facility for storage is older it is not climate controlled and is a bit musty. I originally made my reservation through UHAUL central appointment line and they reserved a 1st floor climate controlled 10x10 unit however they did not have these options available when I arrived despite me making the reservation 6 weeks in advance. I was assured through the central appointment line that my reservation was held and called 2 weeks out to confirm and the day before to confirm. I was little surprised when i arrived the did not have it available. They had a 1st floor put it was an upper unit that you have to use movable stairs to load into there were also mouse droppings in the unit. The stairs are shaky and I did not feel safe at all. The next day I went in to move out and the staff were again very helpful and friendly. I think it is a corporate problem definitely not at all on the staff.

I was scheduled to pick up a truck here on the day of the storm in January. I called ahead to ask to postpone pick-up, and they connected to me to a central scheduling office because it was a one-way rental and they couldn't chance the date (in the end, not a problem). Then when I picked the truck up the day after the storm, they had parked it under an overhang to reduce the amount of snow on top, had warmed the truck up, and cleared off any additional snow that they could. They double checked the gas and mileage as well. I appreciated the thoroughness and efforts to ensure my rental pick-up went smoothly!

U-Haul's website doesn't make it clear that what they charge per-mile. In comparison, Budget Truck's website makes this very clear. I thought that U-Haul was giving me a better price and reserved a truck. When I arrived to pick up my truck I found out that I'd have to pay an additional ~$100 for the trip I had planned. I feel baited-and-switched. Cancelled the truck. Very inconvenient. Very irritating. U-Haul - You should make this info obvious when people order.
