Dr was caring and compassionate. They saved our dog. 3 stars because, as another reviewer stated, they are expensive. The going rate for the procedure our dog had was far cheaper elsewhere when we did our research. Unfortunately, we had to do the surgery right then or our dog would die, so we had no choice.

I took my dog here from his regular vet because he had a GI blockage. I was very impressed with this place. Everyone, from the receptionists, to the techs, to the doctors and surgical team, were very professional, but also kind. They made me feel like they actually cared about my dog. Obviously, taking your pet to a hospital for an emergency is incredibly stressful, but the doctors took great care of my dog and made sure to explain every procedure to me so I would know exactly what was happening. Unfortunately, surgery was necessary, but the staff was awesome, and they called me 2-3 times a day to provide updates on my dog's condition. They even encouraged me to call whenever I was worried about him, and were prompt on checking his status. He was constantly monitored, which made me feel a lot better. Cost for surgeries is large, but they helped me figure out a way to finance it and even refunded me the money they did not use. I just want to say thank you to the entire team at VSH, especially the doctor who provided most of his care on intake (she was a young red-haired lady, Dr. Dunlap or Dulaney, maybe? I'm not sure). You guys all made me feel so much better about leaving Bear there and I felt like he was getting the best possible treatment. All in all, this is a wonderful hospital with excellent staff, and I would gladly drive from Durham to take him to the Cary location should we ever need to in the future. Thank you guys so much!

Had to make an emergency visit tonight with our dog. Impressive facility, great staff, in and out quick, and the cost was less than their quote. Best of all they did good work and we all went home happy!

I had a great experience with Dr Mike Cocchiaro. He was extremely knowledgeable and caring. He gave me a very good explanation about our dog health and provided valuable information in how to improve his well-being. They are expensive, but it was worthy to have a top-notch cardioligist taking care of our Standard Poddle. Outsdanting customer service. I am very grateful.

Six months ago my dog was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and regular vet suggested VSH for follow-up treatment. I scheduled for a six-month follow-up appointment but dog stopped eating and cardio nurse recommended bring her in through ER to be seen, Though I lived near Garner, I took her to Durham to get heart condition evaluated by the cardiologist who was working in that location. However ER vet appeared focused on a UTI infection and my dog was prescribed antibiotics. I was then instructed to schedule a cardio follow-up however the earliest appointment was weeks out. After anti-nausea meds stopped, dog stopped eating again and 2 days before her appointment she started to have breathing problems. She was a skeleton due to lack of eating. So this resulted in another ER visit, this time at the Cary location. It was then her heart condition was diagnosed as getting worse and the frequency of her meds increased. I later found out my dog for 6 months was only taking half of the recommended high blood pressure medication due to miscommunication between the hospital and pharmacy. It has been a week and my dog is dying. After almost $2K in expenses I was not afforded a 5-min consult with the cardiologist I can no longer afford to bring my dog in who is now too weak and will now have to euthanize my dog a part of our family. I believe had her heart condition been properly addressed when I first brought my dog in, she would still be in decent shape. Unfortunately this hospital let me and most importantly my dog down.
