Beautiful and definitely can't wait to go back. This was the second lake here in Arizona that my boyfriend took me too. The first being Bartlett Lake. Close to home, but that one doesn't have any trails that we know of so this lake was perfect to hike at. So beautiful and fun. Will definitely be going back. Also, will camp there the night before to start our hike earlier. We didn't get to finish because we started later. Trails can be kind of confusing. At least for myself they were. We also came across another person who also didn't quite understand the map system they have. Yes follow the white dots but the white dots go in two directions. Kind of makes you think you are going on a easier trail compared to hard trail when in actuality its two separate trails.

I would advise studying the trail map before going on the hike. The loop trail would be easier to follow if the WHITE DOTS on the trail weren't the same color as bird poop.

We enjoyed a brief stop at the overlook area above Watson Lake. There are several trails that take off from there and we walked a short distance. It is possible to hike around the entire lake. On a clear day, one can see the San Francisco Peaks about 50 miles to the north. Good hiking shoes are necessary if you want to climb around on the rocks.
There is plenty of parking, but there is a Day Use fee of $3 for the picnic facilities. There are two boat ramps and a separate area for handicap access to the water.
And a place where dogs can be off their leash.
This is a great place for family events with playgrounds and large fields for games.
The swans will bite.

I have been here a handful of times now and keep finding new paths to take and places to explore. This place really does have something for everybody from nice views for picnic spots to hiking and rock climbing. Always a good time!!

I went climbing at Watson Lake a couple of weeks ago and the view was great. It has nice climbs and the new shortcut allowed us to get there within 15 minutes. Although motor boats are prohibited, it's a beautiful place to row. It's fun for all the family. The ducks always appreciate the company and some treats. There is a nice restroom next to the entry and picnic area, plan accordingly when go hiking further. They have camping but only in the summer. Check with their website for more specific dates.
