Description

Welcome to Hejamada Campground & RV Park. We are located 20 minutes from the north end of Cayuga lake at the beginning of the Finger Lakes region of New York. We are a family oriented campground offering an atmosphere that covers all age groups. There are accommodations for all types of camping enthusiasts, from RVers to tenters on our 82 acres and 200 large sites.

We offer sites for seasonal guests as well as groups in addition to our transient single and multi-day campers. There is also the opportunity to try camping in an RV without having to purchase a unit by renting one of our self contained rental trailers. You need only to bring personal items, food and bedding. Most of our sites provide 30 amp service and water but there are some with grey water dry wells and some with 50 amp service. We also have a group of full hookup sites that are located near the recreation hall and pool. There are also some pure tenting sites, no water or electric. There is plenty of space for kids to run and play.

Our fully enclosed recreation hall has a large seating capacity and is available for private functions, please call 315-776-5887 for additional information. There is a full service bar as well as snack bar where you can purchase pizza, chicken wings, hot dogs, hamburgers and other food. Join us for a famous Friday night fish fry. You can play pool or have a game of darts with your friends. Saturday night there is normally a DJ. We also have a Clam Bake in mid August.

Theme weekends and wine tastings are other events that are scheduled in addition to catch and release fishing, shuffleboard, half court basketball, volleyball and horseshoes. Hejamada Campground is also the home of a mixed couple horseshoe league that runs from May thru Labor Day

I was driving to my camp site an got yelled at to slow down an chased down by 2 golf carts an then the owner chased me down and was very very rude! The shower house water smells so bad to the point you wanna puke. And you have to have someone watch you while your in the pool even if your a grown adult.. Food in there areas are a 2 hour wait.. the water turned my jewelry colors.. very disappointed. The owner Rob needs better social skills. The pool needs to be cleaner.. and they don’t tell you to pay for your food until a day later an they call you repeatedly.
Spent the last two days at Hejamada while attending the WoO sprint car double header at Weedsport Speedway. Grounds were beautifully manicured, the pool was very nice as well. Great playground for the kiddo's, and a big fishing pond. Only wish we had been there on Friday night for what other guests described as a wonderful fish fry. We'll definitely be back.
Awesome place. Very nice campgrounds. Owners were very nice. We met very nice people while we stayed there. There's a bar on the grounds. A really nice play ground for the kids. And yes the Mosquitoes were bad but only bc of a bad season. It rain most of the summer and very humid. We made reservations for next labor day. Cant wait to go back.!!
Although there were activities for the kids and an awesome pool we were unable to enjoy much of this Campground due to the insane amount of mosquitos. When the wind did pick up a little and shoo the pesky bugs away you were overwhelmed with the smell of sewage. These complaints may seem trivial but they are all also easily remedied. The grass was overgrown, cutting it would have helped with the bug issue and addressing obvious sewer issues would make everyone’s stay bearable. In talking with fellow campers, who have stayed before at this campground, the conditions we experienced were the norm. It’s such a shame as the campground has so much potential but the bugs, who seem to enjoy deet, and horrid smells really made it hard to enjoy.
Passing thru on an east coast trip. Campground is nestled in a nice setting. Having said that here are the cons. We were placed in a field with four other RVs as it is approaching offseason. We were close to the pool which has restroom facilities and showers. The brochure states restrooms are open 24 hours they failed to mention except for the pool showers and restrooms. This necessitated us driving the car about 1500 to 2,000 ft to go to the restroom on the other side where the residential campers are located. The restrooms were okay the showers had black mold and they definitely needed an upgrade. Water was not very hot. It did rain considerably before we arrived in inluding the first day soaking the campsites so mud was all over the place. Likely a great place for families and kids in the warm weather when it's not raining. No cable but satellite worked well in the open setting.
When we made the reservation, we asked for a shaded site. When we arrived, we were given a site in the middle of a sun field. We went back to the desk and she was able to move us to a partially shaded site. However, the site was so overrun with mosquitoes we had to buy an $8 bug bomb just to get through the evening. Disappointed to see them still mowing all the fields on Friday afternoon when people were arriving for the weekend. The guy mowing, stopped briefly - not to welcome us - to yell at us for apparently going over the 5 mph speed limit. Not a good start. After the second mosquito-filled night that was cool enough to have a fire but too mosquito-y to enjoy it, we decided to bail on the remaining 2 nights of our reservation and go somewhere else. Between the dirty bathrooms, laundry facilities that you had to pay for but only had cold water, and the general rundown state of affairs, it wasn’t worth it to us to miss another campfire and sit in the RV all evening avoiding the mosquitoes.
The one positive thing I can say about Hejamada Campground is that it has a lot of potential. The grounds are relatively well kept and there is a lot of room to play your typical family camping games. The site we stayed at from June 4th through the 7th had sewer and 30A electric hookups. The campground does have unprotected WiFi, but the signal was too weak to be able to connect to it from our site. There is very little for kids to do here as the playground is roped off due to being in disrepair and the pool also hadn't been opened. There are also a TON of mosquitoes due to the pond that desperately needs some maintenance. We chose to stay at this campground because it was the only one in the area that was not fully booked for the weekend. We went in hoping that the previous reviews describing the campground's overbearing owners were exaggerated. Alas, they were not... The campground has a 5 MPH speed limit, which is nearly impossible to do without continuously riding your brakes. Despite every effort to at least stay under 8 MPH, there would always be a staff member waving at you to slow down. The old guy - presumably the owner - will chase you down in his golf cart - at full speed, ironically - to chastise you for speeding. He spends roughly a quarter of his day doing this. When we stayed, the temperature on Sunday was an oppressive 86+ degrees. There is no shade in our loop, so keeping cool is a challenge. When a camper a few sites away from us lost power, the owner came to fix whatever electrical issue caused the outage and blamed it on all the "people using their damn air conditioners". By 2:00, the few kids in our loop decided to beat the heat by filling up squirt guns and have a water war. A couple of kids used a small bucket to dump water over each other's heads. Apparently, this activity was against the rules. The owner told everyone to stop because the camp uses well water. In the future, we would rather stay at a state park with no sewer hookup for less money than stay here ever again. Believe the bad reviews because they are all true.
We stayed here in Mid-Late June 2021 while in the area for a bass fishing tournament split between Cayuga and Skeneatles... The Good: Lots of space for kids to run around in open grass areas. Pancake breakfast on Sunday morning was good. We used this as a test run of camper life before buying a camper rented one on site. iT was an older camper but everything worked minus the ac could not keep up with the high temps in the afternoon. The Bad: 1.All the reviews about the old man yelling at people to slow down are accurate. I was driving watching my digital dash say 5 mph and watched him come all but running out of the community hall to see who was driving by and how fast he thought they were going. 2. They advertise pool, playground, other amenities that are not open. Standard campground/lodging places open their pool memorial day to labor day. Not here. Was not open during 90 degree days in end of June. Noone advises you of that when you book, and it is not on the website false advertising?. 3. Playground was roped off for "mulch work" which noone did any work during our stay. We booked a campground thinking it would give kids something to do and mom some options rather than a hotel while dad was away fishing most of the day. 4. The fishing pond is washed in and overgrown. From the looks of most things at this campground, it was once a really nice place but is lacking regular upkeep. 5. No wifi availability despite advertising it. It only works near the office. I will end by saying many of the things could be fixed with simple explanations or attention to detail. When asked about the pool on our day of arrival the answer was "no". Not "Im sorry but its not open because of xyz." No explanation that Cayuga State park down the road about 15 mins has a full swim area and kids playground that could be taken advantage of. Also for the staff to scream at cars literally driving 5-7mph while avoiding bumps in the gravel road is just unprofessional. Most cars can idle at the 5mph speed. We did meet several nice people. All of which said this was their first and last stay here... that pretty much tells you everything you need to know.
We stayed here for the first time Labor Day weekend. It is an awesome campground. The family and staff are all very nice, and you can tell they love what they do. The place was packed, but people were respectful of each others' space. They have a club house where they serve dinner and have a bar all decked out for Halloween weekend. The fish fry was delicious!! Our friend had hot wings that passed the heat test. They had activities which all could join in COVID friendly, of course. There was a parade to check out the halloween decorations on the campers, candy for the kids, a bonfire on Sunday night, complete with the fire department making the rounds. We are hoping to go back one more time this season and look forward to spending time at Hejameda Campground in the future.
Cheap. Was probably nice years ago but nothing looks maintained. Listened to drunk domestic fight to sites over. Looks like it was once a family place but now is older drunks. The rec center is now a dirty bar serving cheap beer to old guys watching sports on cheap TVs. The pond is really a flooded drainage ditch.
