Description

Aevitas Fertility Clinic, also known as IVF - Cape Town, was established by Prof Thinus Kruger and Dr Kobie van der Merwe. They were (part of) the team who succeeded in achieving the first IVF pregnancy in South Africa.

Aevitas Clinic has a strong academic connection and is still the only IVF unit in South Africa that is registered to train reproductive specialists and one of the only 3 IVF units training embryologists.

My experience at Aevitas from Day 1 that I had contact with them and walked through their doors, was excellent. It is a beautiful, clean practice. Receptionists, administration, nurses and doctors are all extremely friendly and caring. I would especially like to thank Prof Igno Siebert for his care and gentle manner. He was very supportive throughout a stressful period, very empathetic person. Sr Annelize Mans was also very supportive and caring! I would 100% recommend you to anyone. Thank you for all the care and support and you will definitely see me again!
This is one of the best hospitals. Was there last year 2021though the embryo transfer didn't implant. We still are trying with them 2022. The stuff are very helpful and punctual when dealing with patients. Good one on one interaction. They explain everything nicely and take questions well. I honestly recommend the hospital to all trying to have a baby using IVF procedures. It is real value for your money. They understand that each patient has their own needs and as such treat each patient accordingly. Well stocked with the necessary medicine needed for the procedures they do. Friendly Sisters who made me feel calm despite being nervous about the whole procedure. They observe every legal aspect of all parties involved and that is a plus.
Been going here for 1.5 years now and stuck with the same problem. Infact it has gotten worse. I spoke to my gyno to try and speak about solutions and his response was to continue taking my meds. I do not feel heard. I understand that there are worse cases for them to focus on but that does not mean that because mine is not life threatening that it should be egnored. Completely shocked with the prices I pay and this is what gets said to me.
We never in our wildest dreams thought that this was the path that was laid out for us, but we are so grateful for having the Aevitas Team on this journey with us. We are now officially promoted to mom and dad!
We would like to give a special thanks to Dr Hanekom and Team for their kind, caring and loving assistance by helping us become a family after years of struggling! Our baby girl such a miracle was born on 5 August 2022 after our first and only frozen embryo...How lucky and blessed are we! We could not have done this without the amazing team at Aevitas and Dr Hanekom, who treated us like family!
Great caring people at Aevitas. I had nothing but great support, feedback and service from the reception staff, nurses and doctors. They truly work miracles and give people hope. Will def recommend!!
Prof Siebert made my wife and I feel safe and cared for from our very first visit. He understood our unique situation and never made us feel discriminated against. The nurses, admin staff and lab staff were all incredible. Everyone was always friendly and sensitive to what we were going through. After my second embryo transfer, I am delighted to say we are now blessed with twins.
I can highly recommend Dr. Hanekom and his receptionist, Rosalind. They are extremely professional, kind, patient and caring. Dr. Hanekom is extremely knowledgeable and made sure I was informed about everything regarding the removal of my endometriosis and even personally phoned my family post procedure to give them updates. I can not relate to any negative reviews about him, as I had the most lovely experience. Thank you team!
We had an absolutely appalling experience with Dr Hanekom, but I see we’re not the only ones. There is another review here about him that was 100% our experience as well. I’m sure that Aevitas as a whole is not too bad, but I would not recommend Dr Hanekom at all. Like the other review mentioned, our main complaints were: - Completely unsympathetic towards patients, with condescending responses like “Oh well you shouldn’t actually be in pain from this so I don’t know” as if the patient is making it up. Or, after being in pain for three months and hardly being able to walk or function, “Ag just try to hold out, we did so much effort for you”. As if we didn’t pay him, or as if he did us a favour. - Does not like to be questioned, even though we felt he lost interest in our case and became disengaged - he is not helpful or accommodating, but rather hostile should you have a question for him. - INCREDIBLY poor communication with the patient, as we NOT ONCE received lab results or blood tests that he sent for, even after we contacted his practice to ask for the results. - Terrible communication between him and his receptionist which meant that we were messed around at least two of the three times that we went to see him ie she made a booking at the wrong practice or never informed him about the purpose of our visit so we had to come back a second time. Ultimately, I am deeply disappointed in the level of care that we received from him as I even emailed him before making an initial appointment, mentioning that our case did involve a rare condition, and we just wanted to make sure he felt comfortable/familiar enough to manage it. We forked out thousands, only to have him with the least amount of compassion I have ever seen dismiss us as if it was our fault. I have heard very good things about some of the other doctors, although I have no first hand experience with them, but based on my experience, I cannot sincerely recommend Dr Hanekom.
