Really great car rental service! The cars are very affordable, while being new and in a very good state I had the smallest category, and it even had a rear camera. Everything is really uncomplicated and works smoothly, no matter if you are dealing with them directly at their main office in Cape Town or via one of their partners in places like the Garden Route. Staff is super friendly, patient, and always very helpful. You have one go-to person instead of an anonymous call center, which I really appreciated. Bonus for Germans: They also have German speaking staff, so you will never be lost in translation if you don't speak English that well. Highly recommend, and would always rent with them again. Thank you Dimi, Lea and the whole team!
We had a wonderful experience renting a car for our Cape Town trip. The staff was very friendly, professional & helpful in helping me understand all the details. The prices were reasonable. I wanted to go in for an insurance option with no excess but the car model i chose did not have this option. The staff recommended i go in for an excess cover with one of their partners. Which worked out perfectly! The condition of the car was perfect. Well cleaned and maintained. When returning the vehicle the staff will join along to the closest gas station and top up the tank to ensure no extra charges or discrepancies are reported later. Overall I highly recommend.
Rented two cars. One „brand new“ car broke down after 800 km. Luckily we where close by George and could change the car. The other one was ok. Still, we had some trouble to get up some little hills in Cape Town. Bad communication during the rental and afterwards due to two damages that were caused by others. Misleading information regarding deposit payback and balancing of the damage. Now six month later I still get mails from collection corporations although I sent over proofs of all payments. No feedback from aroundaboutcars or anything. Avoid this rental service when you want to have a smooth booking.
Had an easy, swift and super friendly experience renting a car here for the weekend. I've already booked here again for my next weekend trip from CapeTown, they are also very nicely located quickly hit the freeway once you are on your way.
We actually have two reviews to give. Our first experience with AroundAbout went well. Booked one way from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth with Europcar, no problem, loved it. We then decided to go ahead and book again, round trip to/from JoBurg to do Kruger. They rented us a car to the Braamfontein branch of Europcar in JoBurg. They never had the car ready for us on the day of. The options given to us were not satisfactory going to the airport while the sun is setting and as it is very NOT safe to drive at night in JoBurg. So we had to go to the airport very early the next morning, so a lot of Uber back and forth. Our complaint here is that AroundAbout, as the agency we made business with, should have helped us getting refunded and compensated for all of this, but they never answered our emails once everything was done and payed for. Very disappointed that you pay a markup for an agency and then, when a problem arises, they ghost you.
Don’t choose this car rental company. They never admit their mistake by providing us the wrong car type and charging wrong fee. They randomly made up some excuses and allegedly said I already signed the contract and nothing they will help. Avoid it at all cost.
What the f kind of service is this? I booked a car online at 8am, when i arrived did some paper work. They wanted me to pick up the car and pay in different location, at the Eurocar more than 1 km away. What? I thought it will be a different company, fine When i arrived, they changed the pickup time and said the car won't be available until 10am, so all of us waited two hours to begin our day trip far away When there is a change of hand in paper work involving multiple companies, its not a good business. So AroundAboutCars do not actually own many cars to serve directly to customers, they will make you run around doing their job This is 2 stars max
What a dreadful company. They do not actually seem to rent cars themselves . Passed on to another not very reputable car hire company by them. Aroundaboutcars asked me to pay them directly for an extra day's car hire, and I was double charged by the other company for this. Two weeks after returning the car the other company has still not returned my deposit and is not giving any further information. If you deal directly with car rental companies at least you only have one company to contend with Avoid at all costs
Very bad service. When we arrived to pick up the car, they told us that they had a delay because our car wasn't returned yet by the previous people who rented the car. So eventually they gave us another car but we had to bring it back already the next day as that car was already reserved for someone else. So we had to drive back all the way to town to return it again and then they made us fully fill up the car with gas even though it was their fault we had to drive back there again to switch cars. The car we then got was nothing like what we rented through their website so after a week we wanted to return it for another car, then they gave us the exact same car but a different color !! Felt very disrespectfull. Overall a very bad experience for multiple reasons. Wouldn't recommend renting a car at roundaboutcars.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! We thought we were hiring a car from them but it turns out they referred us to Europcar who are now trying to fraudulently claim money from us and haven't refunded us the excess and what they owe us...They are saying we chipped the windscreen, which we know we haven't and have forged a document with our details that says we confirm we have chipped it. Funnily enough, this document hasn't got our signatures on it.....We never saw or filled out such a document. Europcar in South Africa have the worst reviews and are known to do this to many customers...just look at their reviews. We would never have booked with All about Cars had we known they would refer us to Europcar... Awful experience from All About Cars and very misleading that they never told us who we were actually renting a car from... Stay away from these scammers!
