Patient neglect is absolutely tragic. Nurses do not listen properly to their patients. Everday it's a new doctor who has no clue whatsoever about the patient they don't run proper tests to confirm diagnosis at all or at least try.General care is not up to par as it should be. My mother that's a patient had no proper treatment or treatment plan when she needed. She was just left to help herself. It's very sad for a hospital claiming to be the best to treat patients as mentioned and unfortunately it's not the first time. Hope to see improvement someday in staff and doctors. Except a few nurses who listened and helped but sadly it was only a small minority
Nurses are not attentive to patients whether it's keeping them informed or even providing food at meal times. A simple theatre case took the whole day and the excuse that the patient was given was that 'they have staff training'. Very poor service especially for a private institution.
Mediclinic is by far better than La Verna, Nurses at La Verna are rude, loud and noise all the time, especially at night while patients try to sleep. They take their granny's time to respond after pressing the buzzer for assistance. Even provinvial hospital has better service.... ALL THE HOSPITAL CARES ABOUT IS BILLINGS !!!!
My son and friends met with an accident last week Thursday and was admitted to the hospital 1 week later, my son still never received his operation, we them had to transfer him and his friend to a Durban hospital for further treatment. Doctors was not helpfully in assisting our friends and loved ones which was in a tragic emergency.
Was admitted in hospital on 30 March 2023 due to car accident told them my Dr's name but did not allow me to see him since they already allocated my file to some Dr. On 20 April 2023 to retrieve my X- rays dics nd Indian lady Silma at Dr Ameen's room was so rude told me to come other time/day because it not thier duty to print results to clients. Remember am from Estcourt with hired vehicle then this nonsense .
I have had a terrible stay at the hospital I was an outpatient All I needed was a consultation with the casualty Dr The dr wad an hour and a half late He did nowt consult me He had the nurse's consult with me He did querry my diagnosis nor did he ask the current medication I have been using He was nowhere to be found when help was needed in the facility This is an outstanding level of abysmal behavior You are better off getting help from a cemetery
We had an awful experience at Laverna. My husband was in casualty for almost 7 hours and received no treatment for his pain. They tried to admit him, without even clearing it with our medical aid first. Admission was a nightmare and their card machines don't work, so they made us drive to draw money. The Hospital is currently in a horrific state as well. We had some very kind nurses who did try to assist us, but unfortunately to no avail. We'll never set foot in Laverna again.
I had my c/section done at la verna on the 16th of October 2021 and it was the terrible experience. You are not given orientation on unit procedures and policies on arrival so you'd know what to expect e.g position after cs, how long you will be NPO etc. Side lockers haven't been damp dusted in a while Noise from night shift nurses: loud conversations and laughter, playing music on their phones so loud the whole night without considering patients who are post c/s day 0 sedated needing to sleep. On the 17th of October day 1 post CS only the kitchen and cleaning staff came to our room. We last saw the nurse at 8am when she brought our babies after bathing them. Not even vital signs were monitored on that day until the night staff came and checked our Bp. We were literally at a BnB, all was done is our food was brought to us and we had our rooms cleaned but we never received any nursing care.  You pay R30k to be neglected by nursing staff. If you have means to deliver your baby at Newcastle just go there
- I cannot believe this is a private hospital - it is always under construction - the infrastructure is appalling - the security is rude and is seated outside with a table and bedside cabinet - ISDOM is a security company however it seems like the hospital is using them as reception staff - the nurses seem to be doing the best with what they have - we are still waiting for more than three hours for MRI results and for Dr to see a patient with an accidental spinal injury - we have had to ask the nurse to request pain medication because we are seeing our loved one in pain. - a disgrace to the lenmed franchise - I have seen public hospitals better than this
Where can I start explaining how I ended up with a 1 star rating for this "hospital", the doctors here seem to not know what they are doing, they look like they just graduated and have no clue what they are doing, unable to explain or come up with a diagnosis. It's like the hospital just hires staff for having positions filled to say that "hey we have xyz services offered here" . Oh and there's more, as for the nurses you get a odd few that are friendly but several that have the I don't care attitude, rolling their eyes at patients and not assisting them. One patient even requested to shower and needed her drip disconnected to have the nurse complain like it's a mission to disconnect the drip. Not only that to have another patient who cannot move and asked for assistance to be told by a nurse that you must lift yourself up.?!?!, how is this even a hospital. And there's more, the same patient requested a pillow on arrival and was told "sorry there is no pillows" rudely, this is supposed to be a private hospital????? And cannot even provide pillows?! What a joke, this is an embarresment of a hospital. And the tea lady??? She comes and speaks to you in her native tongue like how the heck should everyone know how to speak it and to understand it?!?!, and when you reply saying I don't understand can you repeat in English, for her to continue with her language.... , please train your staff to speak English of which is a world wide known language so we all understand what to ask for, it's so simple!?! The catering company that's being used also gives you 2 options for breakfast / lunch / dinner, not one of them are suitable to be called nutritional for a person who is sick /bedridden, little to no veg, meal options with no fruit or yoghurt for breakfast??, no fixed times for the meals, you eat when they bring?? Oh and sometimes they "don't have enough of the meals for you" and have to make you sandwiches which take another 45-60 mins to make?? Who can just have 2 slices of toast and be full for 4 hours? Wow, thank you La Verna hospital Ladysmith for disgracing len med!
