I'd love to give you full 5stars and more, because truly, you deserve it...the hotel, staff, food, rooms, gym facilities - all on point a true gem in Durban- Fantastic experience! Unfortunately the location isn't great anymore...for now.... let's hope Durban Central can one day return to it's former glory and be a safe and happy destination for all Rooms: Neat, upgraded, clean and comfy Safety: Outside of the hotel... dodgy and dirty. A let down to such a beautiful hotel. Food & drinks: Fantastic. Beautifully displayed and tasty. Truly on point.
Awesome venue and Amazing staff. We had a buffet breakfast. It was an excellent selection of cold, warm, savory and sweet eats. The waiters are friendly and extremely helpful.Service: 5/5
A grand old dame of the Durban promenade. A 100 yr old property and it shows the signs. As with almost all properties in the area. There is a lot of urban decay and unfortunately it affects this hotel as well. The signs for the hotel are not clearly visible and Google maps also shows the back entrance as the primary entrance which is locked and doesn’t have any signs. Where this property excels is in its service. Almost every single person I interacted with during my stay was very friendly and eager to help. Except for a few wait staff at breakfast which I can understand given the high volume of guests that need to be managed. The hotel is undergoing extensive renovations and I am sure it will regain a lot of its glory.
As we all know that 2022 was not a great year for most people , sadly i was one of those so i was hoping to start my year on a different note. I then planned a trip to Durban for me and my fiance for our Anniversary and I called in to find out if there was something the Hotel can do to make it a little more special , Bronwyn my apologies if the spelling is incorrect made it so much better and I can not stop talking about it as it's always going to be embroided in my heart. The care and service she offered is most definitely the reason I'm coming back to the Edward
Attended a conference this past weekend at The Edward Hotel... let me just say the service is impeccable , the staff go above and beyond to make your stay a pleasant one, there's always someone to assist you no matter what you need. Stand out was Bronwyn at the front desk who was very pleasant and Sandile at the restaurant who went the extra mile in ensuring we were catered to 110%. The food was good, enjoyed most meals offered, the dining hall is beautiful makes you feel like you're in a foreign country. Rooms were comfortable and up to standard, a few minor upgrades would serve the hotel well. The conference venue and facilities itself are great and exactly what you'd expect. Perfect family venue for getaways, or if you're looking for a hotel that can cater for fun and business then The Edward Hotel by Southern Sun would definitely serve all your needs. Definitely see myself going back
Went for a work luncheon. Have not been there in 20 years and was very impressed. Hotel upkeep was fantastic. The conference rooms clean and the food was just outstanding. Food & drinks: Lunch buffet was extremely tasty and a hell of a lot of options. Really really enjoyed my day
The service at this place! Is like you didn't pay to stay there! I really thought that because now is under southern sun group it would have improved! Tjo trust me I regret not booking Garden Court next door!Rooms: 1/5
Tops: Nostalgic Edwardian style. These hotels should never change. It felt like being in “The Shining” movie. If only Al Bowlly would be there! Our waitress was a charming lady. Tip: serve the 2nd wine glass quicker while someone is already eating and he asks for a second.
Great as always. Great staff, cleanliness and professionalism. Just three people to a table for a full day. I have nowhere to put my legs. But nice to be there.Rooms: 2/5
