Had trouble applying online. Called and made an appointment. Upon arrival I waited a few minutes for help. Agent was kind and helpful (sorry I can't remember his name). App was approved and we heard back via mail.
This is a typical low income kind of building. Nothing great. Place was empty when I went and I had no issues. If your bring what you're supposed to and stay calm I can't see why you'd have issues.

The service sucks, they tell you to leave a message and you will get a call within 24hrs, which you don't. I have been calling to speak with somebody for over a week now. No one answer the phone or return any phone calls

At some point in life, there are times you encounter difficult times. These are the times that your hard earned tax dollars are supposed to be there to assist as well as those who administer the programs. Not only is it impossible to successfully get through the automated system, each time I am forced to visit this location, the lack of professionalism displayed is despicable. Yelling and shouting across the floor, eating food in front of the clients, discussing crude events of their personal lives in view of the clients you're servicing is the worst behavior I've ever witnessed in a professional environment.
Giving incorrect information and improperly documenting events, after receiving critical paperwork is even worse. These things are so very important to the people they service, however, the manner in which they process or handle them is obviously careless and slothful. I have had the misfortune of having to seek services from my government more than once due to unemployment and each time I go, I received different information and scenarios to identical questions obliviously by various representatives. Appropriate training on information dissemination, management, and client protocol and customer service should be required quarterly if not monthly by not just this location but also all Social Services entities.
If I had an option of where my taxes dollars went, I would certainly opt out of this service – the meager offerings they toss you as though they are doing you a favor, not realizing that if not for your tax dollars, it would not exist. For those of us who actually worked to contribute – I have no shame in going into an agency when I require assistance during a period when my government proves itself unfit to maintain a stable economy for its citizens and then blames those same citizens for not being able to take care of themselves.
Just as I will not allow the representatives in these agencies to make me feel like I am a low life, lazy human being bent on taking advantage of the system. If you are paid to provide a service, then do so professionally, graciously and with pride, humbling yourself and showing empathy to those you service. It is not your job to judge, for you have no idea of their journey, just like they do not know yours.
