Beaver Dam State Park

Been going there for 40 years. Restaurant food expensive and sloooooow service. Unfortunately, a few years ago they replaced the short, down-lit, low-profile trail lights in front of the campground outhouse with tall, bright streetlights which goes AGAINST the reason why people go camping--to get away from the city and lights. Now when you want to sit around a quiet, romantic campfire at night, you can't even see the stars because of the huge spotlights that're on all night right in the middle of the campground! I used to camp there a lot but stopped after they changed the lighting. If I wanted to camp under a streetlight, I can camp in my front yard on Main St...

Great place to camp. Good hiking trails. Fishing could be better if you're looking for Keepers. Good restaurant.

Fed disability pass no good here, doesnt matter if your a parapalegic and single parent the main attendant is harsh. Parks fairly clean a lil lack on maintenance tho.. Will be the last illinois park i visit

Supposed to be dog friendly but we were told we had to leave because our dogs were barking too much. Other dogs were barking as well but we were singled out for some reason. We were not given any warning and were not refunded any money even though we had prepaid for site. Will not be going back.

Awesome place will be doing some fishing there this summer remember Department of natural resources game wardens I'm handicap I don't need a fishing license is what I've been told
